Wondering if anyone has any experience with taking a full 2K scan (2048x1556) and producing a DCP from it @ 1.375:1 Academy Ratio? I was provided a full feature scan that is intended to be screened at the original aspect ratio off 1.375:1. The film is from 1940 and while I am comfortable with all of the color work and encoding to DCP I am not too familiar with this aspect ratio and how to extract it from the full scan's I was provided. Most of the DCP's I create are sourced from current features or tapes - not film scans.
So I guess my questions are:
Does anyone know if there was a predetermined location within the film frame that was used to extract the image to properly position the picture within a cropped 1.375:1 Academy Ratio?
Should I be re-sizing the image to fit 1.375:1 withing a 2048x1080 or 1998x1080 DCP or should I be providing a full scan DCP to the projector and letting them isolate the image from the full scan on projection?
I was not provided a framing chart of any kind within the image sequence - browsing the web I couldn't find any framing charts that I could use as reference - is there such a thing that would help me?
Forgive me if this is completely out of place. I haven't contributed to the list in years as I have been off on different platforms, but when I was working through my best guess on how to frame the image I thought that someone on this list might actually have experience doing a similar project considering how deep the knowledge base is here. I wont be using DS as a part of this workflow, just a Clipster.
Thanks-
Brian

I would fit 1556 height to 1080 for DCP, then pad the resulting 1421 horizontal pixels with black to 1998, which is the closest valid container.

Thanks Bogdon. I think that's probably the safest bet too.
