Hello friends,

Since there is no activity on this group from long time, so lets make it alive and learn something new. I have a new game for all of you.

All of you might know about stack, queue, link list, DP, Divide and conquer, Greedy algorithm etc. etc. and most of us don't learn new one because it's not in our syllabus define or any other reason. So lets Start a new game which goes like :

1. I'll post daily a Data Structure or Algorithm name in a new thread.
2. You have to google it, play with it, make it easier for others to understand, put some diagrams, code it and post it here( algo + code ).
3. Others will try to modify/rectify/optimize the solution provided by you.
4. Then we will come up with an easy to understand description( bole to hindi main samjhana ;) ) and optimized code for that.
5. At the end of the day you will learn a new algorithm/data structure + how to code it in effective manner.

If anyone want to post a new data structure/algorithm please mail me with subject [NEW DS ALGO], I don't want all of you to start new thread on this else it would be a mess.

I will need your help to make this game interesting and useful so please give me your suggestions and be part of it. So lets start from tomorrow and If I get good response from your side I will try my best to continue this.

cheers,
GG

Nice thought Gaurav!

I would only like to add that besides ds / algo name in a new thread, one thing we can do is post some problem one thinks is challenging,  this may include the kind of problem we are trying to solve in our respective companies (obviously modified),

To bring in interest of intended people, we may also consider rewarding outstanding problem and solution of the month <just a thought/>

Sharpen your saw, you will definitely need it ;)

Actually I posted DS/ALGO jst to start with named data structure and algorithms. Once people know 15-20 good data structures and algorithms we can move to some real time problems based on these data structures. By doing this they will get real feel of why we use data structures, which I never got in college ;).

And reward, Yes great thought. Even we can reward outstanding solution of the week and month both. But first lets see how many people are really interested in the initiative because we have to do lot more brainstorming then solution providers ;)

Hey Guys come on yaar, don't let your problem solving skills die else it will be trouble in future.

@anand and divyanshu If that is case I would suggest to leave the list, it will reduce number of spams in you inbox.

2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year guys where are you? We, who don't have fear of interviews in near future are so concerned about DS/Algo it means we realized how much important it is. It would be better if you realize soon and start enjoying it.

Waiting for few positive responses.

I have a small list of new data structure, and by looking at them i feel ki If people don't have knowledge of basic data structure like tree, linked list etc it will be hard to follow the discussion. And we have couple of new janta from 2nd year who joined today itself. So I am thinking why don't we start with well know data structures and from next week onwards we can start playing with new things.

Whats your opinion?
