When you do the presentation to your church, maybe include suggestions for business owners who might be present, suggesting how they could help. Another idea besides water fountains (and I suppose office water coolers too) is if they can post materials wherever there is bottled water, such as a store display case or a vending machine, etc.Another idea is if you had something that could amount to a subscription. Like, is there a God-gifted writer in your church (or beyond) who would be able to volunteer his time to put together a blog that would be available by paid subscription? The blog would consist of truly worthy, edifying, and thought-provoking spiritual articles. Then the person who donates is going to be donating every month, instead of only once. And since they are getting something in return (articles to read), it's easier for them in this economy to do it. Maybe even someone as important as John Piper would agree to something like this. You never know. I once wrote a letter to a very major celebrity singing star (secular), and he wrote back. More awesome than that, I have talked to God, and the mighty Creator answered back. Perhaps John Piper or some other author (see your pastor for a list of recommended authors or bloggers) would answer back, and be willing to offer their services free. Maybe they could only do it quarterly, but that would still help. Then you would need to figure out how to do the subscription. The easiest way would be by email. You could either email the text directly, or you could email a reminder with a link, telling the person that this month's update is ready at the blog's website (thus allowing you to also use pictures in the website and make it attractive).

Good idea about the coin cup or other materials by cash register. Maybe some business owners belong to your church. Also, I wonder if Whole Foods in Auburn Hills has a bulletin board where you could post info. You could ask them what are the types of info allowed. If they say Yes, then there is also a Whole Foods down here in Troy where I could post brochures.

I realize my blogging idea is problematic because of the vast amount of free material on the web - so why would people pay? But just consider that idea a part of brainstorming. Hopefully it will lead to generation of other ideas. Here is an idea - God opened Hagar's eyes to see where was the water in the desert. Pray earnestly and perseveringly (like the woman who importuned the unjust judge, or the man who kept asking his sleeping neighbor for bread that he could share with a traveler) for God to open your eyes to where is the funding for the water in the desert for your brothers and sisters and their neighbors in that desert for whom you are trying to provide water. Persevering prayer and reliance on God are chief, of course. Meanwhile we also share ideas as He provides.
