Creating drupal tutorial videos library!!

The number of drupal users are increasing by the day in Nepal as well.
More and more people are learning about drupal and many more want to
use what probably is the most robust open source CMS till date.

But many people do not find it easy to use in the first place. As a
result, people tend to run away from Drupal. But we, who have been
using this CMS for quite some time know how easy it is to play around
with Drupal. I think the situation would not be so if only the newbies
to the drupal had access to the drupal tutorial videos. And not just
the newbies, but amateur and php, html or css-illiterate like me will
also find them as life-savers. From making a simple site with few
pages to very complex ones with dynamic contents, the tutorials will
make the process of creating websites with drupal a smooth experinece.
But the sad part is that the DVD of these videos aren't availabe in
Mahaboudha or new-road.

But I presume, most of the drupal-enthusiast members of this group
have those videos. Since, all of the users of open source software
believe in helping each other out, i think we should work together for
this cause as well. So i think we should pool all of the best tutorial
videos that we have and make a good collection. Because right now I am
in need of these videos, I volunteer to collect all these videos from
anyone of you. Just send me an email and tell me how I can contact
you, then i will come and get those tutorials from you. All these
videos that I will collect from all of you will be with me. I will
post my contact details in this group, so that whenever anybody needs
any of these videos they won't have to run around searching for them
either in the internet or to all the members of drupal nepal group.
they can simply come to me and take all those videos from me.

I think this will save a lot of time as well. Instead of searching all
around the internet for help and getting oneself confused, we can
simply look at the videos and learn how drupal works. But many of the
newbies and not-so newbies (myself included) don't know about the best
tutorials. Say for example, Bibek shrestha dai told me about an
awesome tutorial site "gotdrupal.com", which i didn't know of but most
of you here knew about this site. Similarly, the videos from lullabot
are also excellent. I know many of you here do have many such
invaluable tutorials with you. If only we could get those videos at
one place then many would-be drupal users in nepal could be
benefitted.

I could place my email address in this google gruop and since any
nepalese planning to use Drupal will come across this google group, he/
she will know that a collection of these tutorials exists, then they
could mail me and take the videos from me.

So, lets help each other out!!!!

I think its a great idea. I have quite a lot of Drupal videos in my possession. You can come pick them from me at YIPL offices. But do let me know in advance so I can bring them with me.

the videos that are available for free downloads are pirated stuffs
already. DrWierdo explicitly named lullabot videos, which he of course
meant piracy. Don't u thnk we should at least nt openly promote piracy
in the mailing list that represent our drupal nepal community?

Lullabot is one of the best known centers working in the field of
Drupal. they have both premium and free videos as well...their free
videos are as informative, if not more, than their premium videos.
Here, we can assume that we are talking about the free stuff and not
the premium ones. And lullabot are not the only ones with drupal
tutorials, we have lot others as well who make and distribute the
drupal tutorials free of cost...and all of them can be life savers!!!!

I've watched these videos, and yes they are really very helpful in increasing your knowledge and working of drupal. However these videos are mainly backed by specific examples. To get a more indept understanding of Drupal (which is why it will help you make almost any kind of website) I would suggest you to start off with books. 

Pro Drupal (2nd edition) is a really great way to actually start going into the details of what makes Drupal work. I'm currently reading it and it does have a steep curve to it but will give you a nice understanding of what makes the system tick. I have found other books that dont really explain the behind-the-scenes functions of drupal rather they give a 'tutorial' into how to administer it (from the interface). 

As for the topic of piracy, guys, be aware that this is a public forum, and that it is thought unethical and, more important, illegal to be discussing distribution of copyrighted material. I can understand if you are in Nepal and feel that these laws are meaningless and time waste, but in real world, it does matter. Garnu nai cha bhane alik smart bhayera gara ;).

We cant promote, use, or mention pirate sites, but we can provide expert opinion to troubleshoot group members when they exactly describe their problems.

You are right Mr. Saurav....books are also helpful....and we want to
collect books as well, not just the videos tutorials. we want
everything that will help a prospective drupal enthusiast to create a
great drupal site....if you have books that would be of help as
well....you wanna contribute???
