Drupal of Miami Workshop

Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at The Lab Miami, 400 NW 26th Street, Miami, Florida 33127

We will be working on Themes.  Is it better to create your own, use a free Theme, or buy one from a Theme Developer.  We will discuss this and try some themes out.  What is it that makes a theme valuable?   What makes it valuable to you when creating a website?

Last week we had a fantastic workshop with Dan Denysenko going over Modules to install compared to buying or using Drupal distributed modules.  We broke down the modules on which ones are the most important to use on a regular basics such as Views, Pathauto, and Panels just to name a few.
Just in case you missed it we have moved to "The Lab Miami".

Our New Location:

The Lab Miami
400 NW 26th Street
Miami, Florida  33127

Plenty of free parking in the rear of the building.

Just in case you live in Broward County

Ron do you have remote attendance through skype for the meetups? This may work better for us. Let me know.

Gigi

Hi Gigi

No I don't as of today but we were talking about it on Saturday.  Hector Irebarne has Skype setup for tomorrow night if you can make it.  It is listed below for the Broward Drupal meeting tomorrow.  You can e-mail hector and sign up for it or you can call him if you have any questions.

Do you think that you will be on-board if I set it up for Skype or Google Hangout? Dan knows how to set Skype for sure.  I have only worked with it a few times and I think it may be time for me to learn more about it.

Thanks
Ronald Norman

Yes I would attend remotely for certain topics, like THEMES, is a good one! I emailed Hector too. I hadn't thought about remote attendance but will give it a try. Hate not being able to attend. I have so many things going on now. Dan has been helping me a LOT. Thanks for recommending him! He's a great person to work with.
Will try to make it in person one of these days.

Hey Ron I hope the Saturday meetup went well! I attended the Wednesday evening Broward meetup via Skype and this experience was great! Please consider setting up this option for your next meetup. I felt as if I was in the room! Very cool.

Thanks to Hector for being the Skype moderator and gave us behind the scenes details during the presentation.

Hi Gigi

I tried to get in too but had problems.  I think it was my Internet Service and I called them and they fixed it I hope.

We had a good meeting and it went way beyond me this time.  I did get my questions answered.  Dan and Michael went into trying to get Drupal 8 working on a Mac Local setup.  That was a project.

I will try to see what I can do for this Saturday.

Thanks
Ron

Clear Internet Service

It has been very good for wireless.  I had no problems with it.  Anyway when I called them they told me that there was a problem and they did their thing to make it better.

I am not sure if I am going to get the Skype up on Saturday because when I talked to Hector he told me to get a microphone so the sound is good.  He says that he had a lot of problems without the microphone.

I may have to try testing it out first but will not have time this week to do so.

Will let you know.

Thanks
Ron

Never heard of them, we have Comcast. So far they are good.

Hope it works out.

I had Comcast and they just kept raising the price.  They raise my charges five time in one year.  They would charge me for service calls that I did not have.  Working with them was a total disaster and they would remove charge one month and add it back in two or three months later.  I finally just gave up on them  and went looking for something else.  Clear is only $45 per month and Comcast was $75 per month but you still have to find a TV program with Clear.
