hello there,
drupal camp pune was awesome yesterday, though many attendees did not
return after the lunch session, mainly coz they weren't interestd~
okay, i had to leave just before the feedback session started, and i
had a suggestion to give..
about:me
im an engineering student, a webmaster of the IEEE student of branch
of my college (
http://ieee.sit.ac.in/)
and am frequently contacted to make websites for various communities
and college fest in my coll
i had started a web designing community in my coll to work towards
completing the web sites on time
the prob
we, as a team usually start from scrap, downloading a template, java
scripts, and then assembling them
this required quite some time as the configuration and the content
creation was separate
Drupal - im definitely going to use drupal in my next project..
the suggestion -
what the community can do is create a section for Drupal beginners
and give
1 a step by step procedure in starting a live websites in a few steps,
i find drupal as easy as blogger (but more powerful than blogger,
obviously), and if it is really, imagine the number of people using
drupal increase..
2 list the important and recommended modules for specific type of
website such as best module for blogs, forums, groups, form
registration(i currently use google docs spreadsheet form application
for sign ups) and so on
basically, telling the beginners that there is a easy yet powerful
alternative for site creation other than online site builders or third
party s/w even after they have the tools to host the site on their own
server..
i hope iv made my point..
