Instalação da Tradução Portuguesa No Drupal 6.17

Estive a tentar instalar a tradução portuguesa do Drupal na versão
6.17. Depois de fazer o download do pacote de tradução em
http://drupal.org/project/pt-pt, extrair e substituir as pastas na
raiz do projecto, a página de instalação fica completamente branca,
sem nenhuma opção de instalação. É um erro conhecido ou estou a fazer
algo errado?
Já consultei várias fontes e não me parece que esteja a fazer algo
errado. A alternativa será depois da instalação em inglês, importar
uma nova linguagem depois de activar o módulo Locale mas não consigo
encontrar o ficheiro po. Se alguém me puder esclarecer agradecia ;)

Isso acontece-me frequentemente. É um problema nas permissões dos
ficheiros .po. Fazendo um tar tvf tem-se:

A permissão é 600 e deve ser 640. Fazer o seguinte:
Se for as permissões, como suspeito, este comando vai listar todos os
.po da tradução pt-PT. na raíz da instalação drupal
find . -name "*.po" -perm 600 -print
Se listar os ficheiros é este o problema. Para o resolver fazer:
find . -name "*.po" -perm 600 -print | xargs chmod 640
Fazendo agora:
find . -name "*.po" -perm 640 -print
Deve listar todos os ficheiros .po da tradução.
Tentar agora a instalação.

Concluíndo e depois de mudar as permissões continuo com o mesmo
problema. Se tentar a instalação com o drupal original não tenho
qualquer problema.

Sim prosseguir a instalação com inglês e depois de activar o locale
fazer a activação da língua na página respectiva:
admin/settings/language
E a seguir importar o pacote de traduções em:
admin/build/translate
Não tenho experiência nenhuma de uma instalaçao de drupal com outra
língua que não o inglês. Normalmente faço tudo em inglês e importo a
tradução depois.

Segui então o segundo método e resultou obrigado! Só uma questão: é
mesmo necessário importar um a um os ficheiros .po do pacote de
tradução (http://drupal.org/project/pt-pt) ou existe uma maneira mais
simples?
