John Scalici has several events happening you might be interested in.

Tom Harris will be in for a 2 day weekend of Building your own Drum.
All the materials will be provided. The best way to play a drum is to
learn about it inside out.

August 30-31 9-4 on Sat and 9-1 on Sun. I don't know the cost of it
yet.

"This weekend workshop is intense and joyful. While Tom is able to
share the experience and skill he has acquired from building over 1000
drums since 1996, each person is faced with a significant challenge to
bring their first drum to completion. Most people finish the weekend
feeling a deep sense of satisfaction while also feeling like they have
finished the equivalent of a marathon. It is also a strong bonding
experience for the participants who have shared this process. "

John is also starting up a Djembe class in the fall.

"I am offering Beginning- Intermediate djembe classes.
The focus will primarily be on the West African Djembe and Ashiko
drums. Basic technique, soloing concepts, as well as traditional and
universal rhythms will be covered.

The Djembe Class is comprehensive, building on the previous class.
Please, NO drops ins. Class is for suitable for ages 14 to adult.
Class size limited to 20 participants."

Class is $125 for 8 weeks, no drop ins and $ is due at the first
class. It might be easier to attend and on the pocketbook if people
could get together to share the cost of driving down to B'ham. Just a
thought.
