Instrument rental or loans

Over the years I have had out-of-state facilitators rent/ borrow my kit for local gigs. It’s been a couple of years… Grateful for the respected referrals and the opportunity to help a trusted facilitator out.  What do you take into consideration to support a request? How are you setting fees for a rental these days? 

It’s a new world and I’ve been on a sabbatical from events after dealing with some unexpected family medical challenges.  Self-care required after caregiving for two loved ones.Thankfully, all are well now.  

It’s a new year of possibilities and grateful to reconnect!

Hello Gisele,

I'm happy that you're able to attend to self-care, and hope that whatever medical challenges arose that they have been resolved with as much grace as possible.

I have a very casual approach to this topic. If somebody's doing something for free I lend my drums for free if I trust them. That is always been the case so far as they are always people I know. If they have a paid gig, I asked them to budget in rental costs and ask them how much they feel would be fair given what they're being paid overall. If I'm comfortable with that, I say yes if I'm not, I propose another figure. 

I take the above approach because the requests are pretty and frequent, wooden generate a lot of money in any case, and I want to support our community, and especially give opportunity to those people who get to experience the benefits of being in Rhythm together.

Anyway, that's my two cents!
