Using Druid "not" type filters

I have the following filters:
{
    "filter": {
        "fields": [
            {
                "type": "selector",
                "dimension": "userid",
                "value": "xxxxx"
            },
            {
                "field": {
                    "type": "selector",
                    "dimension": "siteid",
                    "value": "yyyy"
                },
                "type": "not"
            }
        ],
        "type": "and"
    }
}

I am doing a groupby query using these filters which should return all rows matching "userid" == "xxxxx" and all rows Excluding where "siteid" == "yyyy"
The issue is, instead of ignoring rows that match my NOT filter it zeros out the metrics but still returns the rows.

Is there a way to excluded rows that match a not filter so I don't have to loop over the results and pluck them out after?

Thanks in advance. Using Python by the way.

Druid should already be doing what you describe -- it should be excluding the rows with siteid "yyyy". Are you seeing results with that siteid?

Yes I am getting a row back with the siteid that I filtered out. The only difference in that row is the metrics are set to 0.

I can run the same query in SuperSet and it does excluded the row and when I look at the query filters they are the same as mine. Very confused

As you can see there is a row of data in the response that has had metrics zero’d out but that row should not be there – When I run this request in a UI the row does not show up so that leads me to believe I am doing something wrong.

Hey Mark,

Is it possible that "siteid" is a multi-value dimension? That's the only thing I can think of that might cause this kind of behavior. i.e., there's a row somewhere in your input that has "siteid":["3315", "something-else"].
