Family Advice on Alcohol & Drug

The staff of addiction counselors at The Landing knows that the family
of a man who is drinking or abusing drugs can be torn apart. There is
a saying in the rooms of recovery that "for every man who abuses drugs
or alcohol, there are 10 other people whose lives also get ruined."
The pain and suffering of caring for someone who is in the grasp of a
chemical dependency can be overwhelming.

There are the mothers and fathers who suffer sleeplessly worrying
about their son. There may be a girlfriend, wife, or even close
friends who experience the hurtful and careless actions of a man whose
behavior is shaped by his chemical dependency. Children who grow up in
homes where a parent is an alcoholic or a practicing drug user often
exhibit mood disorders and suffer greatly because of the neglect and
abuse that may occur in a home where drugs or alcohol are being
abused.
