Thank you friends. I had a brief chat with Devika mam on this: guess..we will need to submit a signed letter to this effect [read request :)]. The catch is- the more number of signatures, the better.
All of us being at different locations, let us first float the draft letter, get everybodies agreement. And then we select a coordinator for every batch (the one who takes the onus of getting this signed from the rest of the members in batch).
If most of us agree to this, I can draft the letter and float across...

I am writing this seek your opinion regarding MS-LIS. I think, all of you
are aware that since, 2008-2010 ADIS has been changed to Master of Science
in Library and Information Science (MS-LIS). Should we request ISI Bang/
DRTC to convert our ADIS degrees to MS-LIS retrospectively or award us a
continuation certificate. I think we wouldnt mind paying a small fee also
for the purpose.
Waiting to hear your thoughts in this regard.

I believe this is really a good idea which would also bring us at par with
the other MLiScs from Universities.
And also I believe paying a small fees to convert the degree/diploma to MS
wouldn't hurt us -:).

Hi,
I suggest that you all should write a letter (signed by many all alumni who are interested) to Director, ISI through, Head, DRTC and Dean Of Studies ISI requesting for awarding MSLIS degree to DRTC-Alumni who have ADIS.
The essential statements to make are:
1. Why is it important that you MUST have MSLIS? what are the problems you are facing having same degree as ADIS?
2. Pl state there that "we are willing to comply with whatever requirements ISI states for this purpose" DO NOT mention fees, as you know ISI NEVER collected or will collect 'fees' from its students!
You can send us a draft to take a look at, then we can
discuss, finalize and then you can start collecting signatures of alumni

We are facing lot of problem with ADIS Degree, as for example, first I tried to get my PhD registration from Calcutta University, but they did not allow me to take registration as they said this is not a Master degree course. We do not have any Govt circular to produce that ADIS=MLIS. Also many institute they do not recognise ADIS degree. |
