I also experience the problem that I get the message "Sync to Google Drive fails".
Strange thing is that I notice that the sync has had result, but only partial. In my spreadsheet I can see most of my entries, but not the latest. I tried to examine the last succesful entry, but I can't figure out if there is anything wrong with it.
Could it be related to the fact that I can't use the Contacts plugin omn my tablet ?
