Hi,
I am using dropsync for quite a while now to backup my local mac-drive to a remote cloud via ssh Login and rsync.

I am experinencing the following errors:

-- Rsync Executable --
/Applications/DropSync.app/Contents/Resources/rsync_40
1. rsync: link_stat "/Users/myname/Documents/work/!Privat/./Outlook" failed: No such file or directory (2)

Any Idea how I can solve this problem?

Thank you very much in advance.

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

I think I know what the cause of this might be.  The problem is that the DropSync browser view only shows you folders that actually exist on your hard drive ... but ... it looks like at some stage in the past you selected a folder called /Users/myname/Documents/work/!Privat/./Outlook ... and DropSync is still trying to sync this even though it no longer exists.

The solution is to switch to the "list" view ... and you should be able to see the offending folder and remove it from the list of items to sync.  You can switch to the list view using the View button in the toolbar.

I hope that helps

Ira

Hello Ira,
thnk you very much for your immediate help. It works now.
I thought that Dropsync "recognizes" if I delete or move folders on the source side an will delete the folder or file on the target as well.

Best regards.
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

You're right .. ideally that should be what happens ... but it's actually much harder to implement than you might think as there are many edge cases (eg for network drives ... when should the detection step occur etc).  I'm happy to report though that it works in DropSync 3 (currently in development) ... not sure when that will be released though at this stage.

Best wishes
Ira

Hello Ira,

I have a similar problem in a sync scenario. A couple of files get listed as to be synced from the remote site to local. However, if I proceed I receive the error that they do not exists. I checked on the server and files truly exists, I also checked file name encoding etc. I have no idea what could cause the failure, any idea?
