I am a student and i downloaded the student version of Revit 2017. I have the license to download it for free, thanks to my university. In teory in the 2017's version Collaboration for revit, the service to work on files on cloud at the same time, is included, but when i try to use it with my educational version appear the notice in the p

Any workflows that produce the same result? Can I even use worksets without collaboration? I just hate the instability that comes from having a central model on a cloud based platform like box or google drive because I always end up having issues.

Autodesk Revit is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool, which can be used by more than one person working on a new project. This is an important feature in collaboration within a project, between projects, and with other users, firms, and disciplines.

Autodesk Revit Collaboration Suite made its debut today at the American Institute of Architects [AIA] Convention in Atlanta, Georgia. Revit Collaboration Suite is a new pay-as-you-go offering that provides architects, engineers, and contractors with a more flexible, lower cost entry point to BIM workflows. With the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit software, plus Autodesk A360 Team cloud collaboration software, the suite provides the essential tools for collaborative model-based building design.

Revit users collaborate with on-premise Storage Sync and share files on Egnyte Cloud[/caption]From an operational perspective, AEC customers expect Storage Sync to be a Windows Server replacement. Once Storage Sync is deployed on-premise, IT admins require all of their users to continue to use the same drive letter (for e.g. P:) as they did before migrating to Egnyte. During the migration phase, IT administrators move certain project folders to Storage Sync while the remaining data is still served from the Windows Server. They leverage Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) to consolidate the project folder namespace across the Windows Server and Storage Sync. After the Revit files are migrated to Storage Sync, the workflow for Revit collaboration is no different than Windows-based Revit collaboration. If a user wants to collaborate on a Revit project file, he will need to elevate the Revit Local file to a Central file using the File-based Worksharing mode and save the file. This enables other on-premise users to open the same file and work on different components of the project. An important caveat to note is that Storage Sync is not a functional replacement for Revit Server. This implies that Storage Sync facilitates Revit-based collaboration only within a specific on-premise location and not across geographically dispersed offices. Even though you can deploy Storage Sync instances across multiple offices and synchronize files between these locations, Storage Sync does not have the application-specific locking awareness to detect and moderate Revit locks among several geographically dispersed collaborators.

In comparison with WAN-based collaboration, BIM Collaborate is definitely more affordable, and offers more capabilities beyond file-sharing. But it is out of bounds if your company can not or does not want to have its Revit files in the cloud.

Revit is widely used in architecture, commercial interior design, building design, and virtual design and construction. Revit is the industry standard for BIM editing, but can sometimes be difficult to share and collaborate with teammates, clients, and stakeholders. Streaming a Revit model into The Wild for presentation and collaboration can fundamentally redefine expectations for the design process. A shift from merely visualizing ideas to experiencing them immersively can help architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) teams achieve new levels of comprehension and alignment, helping everyone focus on the best solutions in the earliest stages of design, all the way through construction

The Autodesk Revit software offers several time-saving tools to streamline collaboration across different disciplines. Among these tools is the Copy/Monitor tool, which enables users to duplicate elements from one model to another while keeping track of any modifications made to those elements in the original model. This can be useful when working on large projects or when collaborating with other designers. The tool also allows users to monitor changes made to those elements in the original model, which ensures that all copies of the element are kept up to date. This functionality proves highly beneficial in saving time and enhancing collaborative workflows.

While you could (can) upload your Revit models via the web interface to either storage platform, Revit would not see these files. They needed to be enabled for Collaboration and uploaded through Revit. This process made changes to the Revit files which enabled collaboration from BIM360 Design/C4R.

The following image shows the Dropdown list expended with both BIM360 icons displayed. One will take you to the proper BIM360 collaboration tools and the other, incorrectly to the Autodesk Desktop Connector.

For the successful execution of building projects, data management solutions and collaboration and integration of design teams is very crucial. Currently, the digital information is optimized by various building actors to improve the design and project productivity. The smooth flow of this digital information throughout the project lifecycle is important and beneficial both for owners as well as for building teams. To make all this happen, BIM solutions are implemented in AEC industry.

Revit based design collaboration: Revit allows it users to collaborate on a design so that the design quality can be enhanced. 3D BIM models that are developed with the assistance of Revit can be shared between different teams that are involved in design development.

A central model:This collaboration becomes possible with the help of a central Revit model. This model contains all the concerned building data. This model is saved in a shared location in LAN (local area network). So by saving it in a shared location, allows it to be accessible to multiple members. By saving a copy of this central model, to their local work stations, individual members of design teams can work independently on it. This newly created or saved local model works as an interface mechanism for updating changes made by individual members to the central model.

At Snaptrude we believe collaboration should be a central pillar in BIM workflows. Real-time multi-user collaboration (as seen in other industry tools like Figma, Google Docs, etc.) is a must-have for the AEC industry to be productive & efficient. With feedback from enterprise customers like WeWork, we have developed a seamless design interface where architects can collaborate with clients and other stakeholders.

Linked Revit models are imported as locked objects for cross-disciplinary collaboration. For example, while importing an architectural model, you can include any linked structural, MEP, landscape, or other models. This includes structural columns & capitals, lighting devices, electrical fixtures, security devices, MEP, other HVAC elements, planting, and more. Linked models can then be reviewed, locked, or hidden as needed.

Revit has one of the best collaboration capabilities. Subcontractors from multiple disciplines can use our models, receive the same data and information that we input and incorporate it into their designs. Linking models also creates an environment where different teams can work together by working in the same model simultaneously and receiving updates in real-time. This collaboration helps create a better workflow without constantly looking for updates and having to redesign, which sometimes can be time-consuming and costly.

Effective collaboration is key to the success of any construction project. In the world of building information modeling (BIM), bringing different teams together and ensuring they work with the right data is crucial. To facilitate seamless collaboration, Autodesk Construction Cloud introduces Bridge, a powerful tool that enables members to link cloud models from Revit to their Autodesk Construction Cloud account. This integration not only streamlines workflows but also enhances data accuracy and improves project coordination. In this blog post, we will delve into the benefits of using Bridge and Revit Cloud Worksharing, exploring how this workflow can revolutionize your collaboration efforts.

Bridge acts as a bridge (hence the name) between Revit models and the Autodesk Construction Cloud account, facilitating cross-team collaboration and data integration. By linking cloud models from Revit to the Construction Cloud, teams can work together in a centralized environment, eliminating data silos and ensuring everyone is on the same page.

With Bridge, members can access the most up-to-date project models, enabling real-time collaboration and reducing the risk of working with outdated or conflicting information. This synchronization ensures that all team members are working with the right data, promoting better decision-making and minimizing errors.

1. Setting Up Bridge:
- Access your Autodesk Construction Cloud account and navigate to the Bridge tool.
- Connect your Revit models to the cloud by linking them to your Construction Cloud account.
- This integration establishes a seamless connection between Revit and Construction Cloud, enabling data exchange and collaboration.
