Hi,

I have a project in which we will use the movement of the kite to produce electricity.
Basically the trajectory of the kite will be optimized with an algorithm relying on the wind force and direction.
The idea is to replace the existing code that is executed when the drone follows a defined trajectory (the GPS one) by our own algorithm.
So the question is : where in the current code is the 'next point' for the drone set? In other words, where in the code is the GPS data from the Mission planner?

I'm using ArduPlane 2.78.

Thanks in advance!
Marc.

We would like develop a new ArduPilot application i.e. Airborn Wind Energy (AWE) system like www.kitepower.eu andwww.swisskitepower.ch  or www.ampyxpower.com
In order to develop this project we must first modify the software.
I'd like to modify the APM in order to have an "Ardupilot-wind" which can control a kite or a glider tethered.
I'm writing a flow chart which show an algorithm that will pilote the glider in a such way that the traction force of the tether should be costant, more or less.
May I upload this flow chart on google drive? Or elsewhere in GitHub?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Guys,
i yet develop data logger for kitegen system and a yet fly a kite
using our VRBrain with a special revision of APM code , The kite
control is not the same of plane it's a good starting point but net
some patch for implement special control.
best

Dear Roberto, is your work open source?
I know Kitegen technology and we want to develop a different technology.
We want an open source power plant similar to those developed by kitepower.eu or swisskitepower.ch, in which the unit for the flight control of the kite is located near the kite at the upper end of the tether. This tether is a single one and not a double one like in the kitegen. Moreover the KCU (kite control unit) controls the kite using four short cables (about few tens meters).

Hi all,

I am working on a similar project (blog robokite in french, source code on github).
So far I have a kite control unit on the ground, but I am always changing things, with the goal to compare different solutions.

I don't know ardupilot very well so far, but I also thought of something like ardukite or ardupilot-wing as Francesco said.

Do not hesitate to share any advance on the subject!

We are the funders of the Kiderwind open-source project which aims to harness the wind at high altitude in order to generate power.
We organize an hackathon in Matera for the last week of August, in order to build a first prototype.
If you are an expert in this domain and you'd like to join we will cover travel costs, accommodation and food during your stay..
For more details see here.

Francesco,
Many thanks for your answer.

I am really interested by this hackathon. I shared the news on the Yahoo AirborneWindEnergy forum.
I am not using ardupilot yet, arduino only and a ground computer (PC or raspberry), but I have the feelings of reinventing the wheel sometimes, so i would like to learn more about it.

Hi Baptiste,

Thanks for your answer. I'm working with Francesco for this project.
For logistical reasons we decided to postpone it to the 22nd - 27th of September.
If you are interested to join, please directly communicate here.

See you,
Marc.
