I am trying to program a DJI Phantom 3 drone.

When I click on "Variables" the "Create variable ..." button is grayed and nothing happens when I click it.  Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you.

Are you using DroneBlocks on iOS, Android, or our newly updated Chrome app? We’ll look into this and see what’s going on.

I am using the Chrome app.  I had the same problem on a Mac as I did on Windows 7.

Attached is a screenshot.

Thanks for sharing that and our team has confirmed that we're seeing the same. I have a short-term workaround for you. You can go here:

in your web browser. Create your mission with variables. Then login and save the mission. Now go back to the Chrome App, login and you should be able to retrieve your mission. Connect to Tello and execute the mission.

Let me know if you have any problems with that workflow and our team will look into a fix for this asap.

Thank you for the quick response and workaround.

The problem I have is that I am trying to program a Phantom 3.  The URL you provided only allows me to program a tello.

Sorry about that. I assumed you were programming Tello. Here you go:

Now when you access the Chrome App make sure you click the menu icon and select "Connect to DJI" and then login there. This will allow you to retrieve your DJI Phantom mission.

New version is out (DroneBlocks 2.1.1 adds number rounding for variables in navigation blocks). This is a joke? What about creating variables, still not working...bad....

Hi,

A majority of our users are on iOS and Android. Chrome was recently released and we're working out some bugs. Does the approach I proposed above not work for you in the meantime? We'll get this sorted soon.

FYI we have rolled out a fix for the chrome app and creating variables. It's version 2.2.0 and should be available in the Chrome App Store shortly:

I've just loaded version 2.3.1 of the Chrome app and it's broken again.  I am unable to create variables when in DJI Blocks, clicking on "Create Variable" does nothing.  Tello Blocks works correctly.

Hi,

Thanks for pointing out the variable issue with the DJI blocks. To be honest most of our users with DJI drones use Android and iOS devices to program their missions. The reason being is that to actually control a DJI drone you have to be connected with DroneBlocks running on Android and iOS. If you're looking to program the mission from the desktop and then load it from a mobile device (Android or iOS) you can create variables here:

Directly in your web browser. That's a workaround for the time being while I talk to the team about getting variables for DJI aircraft working in the Chrome app. Hope that makes sense and please let me know if you have any other questions.

All the best,
Dennis
