I am highly interested in getting one Droid-3 for my next gear buy.
Can you ship it to China?

Hello, any future plans of Abildgard products? I am highly interested
in a sequenced 8-bit digital synthesizer. The internal sequencer would
make it ideal for a live setup.
If it is even multichannel (3 channels or more), I can take that
machine with me and make some 8-bit music anywhere I go.

Regards
/M.Q.

You probably subscribed to the mailing list a while ago and since it has
close to zero traffic so u forgot about it. As for M.Q., if u want a 8bit
carry-everywhere-station, Get an old gameboy with LSDj
(http://www.littlesounddj.com) or nanoloop (http://www.nanoloop.de). It's a
killer.

hello M-.-n and MQ

oh yeah ok I see I forgot about that cause this group is
really quiet :-))
well it looks like at abildgard they're not ready yet to ship
out to europe :(
I'd love to try their synth!

if you want 8 bit sounds you sure have lsdj and nanoloop and
the sidstation but you can also have a look at dave smith's
EVOLVER it has 2x2 DCOs with wavetable sequence, analog filter
and lot of modulation options. I really like it !

hey M-.-n have you tried the droid?

I'm actually about to get an evolver and just sold my SIDstation. Now
the SID is 8bit but frankly u'r better off with finding a C64 & running
prophet 64 or a tracker on it... will save you a lot of money and will
be able to do a lot more. The evolver is not 8 bit at all (I mean maybe
the digital waveforms are but there's much more to it) but would be a
very nice companion to it.; I'm pretty excited to get one finally

Nope.. Since I'm lurking at their web site (about two years) it's never
been able to ship outside their country. I'm not sure I want one a lot
but it certainly sounds like an interesting little toy.. problem is that
there are soooo much of them :!:

I'm trying to keep my gear list to minimum and mostly things that I can
carry anywhere, battery powered. I've used GBs a lot (running LSDj) and
I am currently writing a sample based tracker for GP32 that uses the
same user interface paradigm as LSDj.

tried a droid? your lucky if you can fuind one. They wont sell it seems or cant outsid denmark and what abunch of shite that is . ..they could make and sell these as indivoidual units . . . they seem unable to run a business.I am on this list 'just in case ' one day they come off the drugs and actaully start selling these properly.I wasted more time than i care to trying to buy one of these droids . . . my advice is consider this vapourware . . . .the people making it are unable to communicate or even sell one direct unless you live next door to them it seems . . . total timewasting wankers . ..  .

They're nice guys...don't hate.
I just made a holiday of it and flew out to pick one up.
Well worth it, nothing else in my rig sounds like the Droid.

Thanks for all your interest in DROID-3. It's good to hear from you people on the forum.

We regret that things have been moving very slowly.

The latest developments are:
-------
We've finished an update of the droid firmware. The new features include 8 internal user presests (you can change them and save your own sounds). Much better sample rate. You can startup the droid in 4 different sample rates - default one is the new high one and the other three are lower - one approx like the old firmware and two really low and crunchy ones. There is a preview function in the unit now so you don't need a MIDI connection to hear the sound. The new dial can be surpressed to change parameters faster.

Old units can be updated with this firmware (and the new dial). The new units are so far called DROID3+.

We're are in talks with a new production company to speed up the production - and avoid one-man manual assembly which stalls current progress. We also need the an update of the design to make it better suited for production. Hopefully this new company will be able to help us with both the update and the production. Despite our limited resources we really hope to be able to make this new investment in the project.
------

We haven't forgotten any interested people or emails. Everybody who writes us asking for a unit are put on the waiting list - even if we can't answer right away.

Cheers

Hi,
Will the new firmware be available for download at some point?
What is the new dial?  Is it a different pot or a multifunction dial?
Can I install it myself?

Hope you are doing well!

Pete

> Will the new firmware be available for download at some point?

What I meant by update was that we (in our repair shop) can update old units with the new firmware (we've switched to a newer chip). It requires an internal hardware change too (outside/interface-wise the change will be visible only by the new dial. Soundwise you'll really notice the difference in samplerate).

It's a new one that clicks when you turn it and you can press down on it - this will make each click count as more rotations.

> Can I install it myself?

It's a little too complicated for that.

Thanks same to you :)

David,

What is the procedure for existing owners to get this firmware upgrade?
How long should we expect the process to take, and what is the cost?

Thanks,
Justin
