My organization has DROID integrated with a DAM system.  Over the last year I have ingest approx. 500 .dv video files into the DAM system.  Recently, I discovered that six of those files have been identified by DROID as follows.
  • MIME Type - audio/mpeg
  • Format Name - MPEG 1/2 Audio Layer 3
  • Pronom ID - fmt/134
  • Extension Mismatch - false
All of the others were identified this way.
  • MIME Type - video/dv
  • Format Name - Digital Video
  • Pronom ID - x-fmt/152
  • Extension Mismatch - false
Can I send someone one of the .dv files being identified as an MP3 audio file to determine if the problem has to do with the files or DROID?  I am running DROID 6.5 signature V93.

Thank you
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I hope you are well. Thank you for drawing this to our attention. You can send a sample file to pro...@nationalarchives.gov.uk and our team can have a look at why it is clashing.

Best wishes,
Francesca

Kevin,

MP3's do very often conflict with other formats especially AV. Also, the DV format in PRONOM is extension only, meaning there is no signature, so any signature it finds would take priority unfortunately. I am curious to know if you verified the six files as DV with MediaInfo?

It is a problem I trying to solve on my end as well.
