Hi all,
I've written a new blog about a tool that explores the use of a DROID report as a way of generating checksums for directories and collections of digital objects. The tool itself looks at ways of reasoning about where different files and folders exist in directory trees, identifying their existence or not and their location. Directory checksums, and more importantly, collection checksums provide a new way of demonstrating the authenticity of a set of digital objects (although potentially in an increasingly old-world paradigm as described in the blog).
As with much of my work with DROID outputs, the CSV report itself provides a comprehensive static overview of the layout of files on disk and so it provided a great starting point for exploring this work.
It may be of interest to folk here.
Best,
Ross
