Hi
We were using DROID 4 CLI in our preservation system until now. We have noticed that there are diverging results by using DROID 4 and DROID 6.1 with the same signature file.
Being the results of DROID 6.1 much more accurate we are migrating to use DROID 6.1. On doing this we have seen that the CLI interface is substantially different from what it use to be in D4 and the documentation online and delivered with the product scarce. Actually the documentation online refers exclusively to DROID 4 apparently.
Well the question is, is there a more comprehensive documentation online on how to use DROID 6.1 from the CLI?
Thanks for any hint.

Hi Vladimir,

The best way to access help about how to use the command line is from the DROID GUI navigating to: Help -> Help -> Profiling your files -> Command line control

This is the most up to date resource and contains instructions on how to use the DROID 6.1 command line features.

Hi Ross,

that's all true... I wonder if TNA will put up some new online documentation for DROID?

Also, do you know if there is a PDF of all the help included in DROID 6.1?  There was in DROID 6, for those who didn't want to fire up the GUI just to read the help.

cheers,

Matt

Hi Ross

Thxs for the info, regarding the post of Matt there's not PDF bundled with the download for DROID 6.1.

Hi Both,

Yep, the PDF was removed from the build because we were unable to keep it up-to-date. I have to put my hands up for that but couldn't see how to mirror the code updates to the PDF when running a build. It is archived at TNA and available in the previous 6.01 zip but will be out of date.

As the droid-help is all HTML I wonder if it would play nicely if copy and pasted into a GitHub wiki... The replication issue still stands however as functionality is added.

Hi Ross,

we didn't produce the pdf automatically.  We used Helen to produce the java help (which uses HTML, but adds some info of its own to make producing the help easy):

http://www.software7.biz/

This software also allows us to export the help file as a pdf from the help manually.  Since you only do this when you are doing a public release (e.g. once a year!) , we never investigated trying to automate PDF production.

Regards,

Matt

Oh, I see! - I was looking at if from the inside out! :)
That should make things easier for the devs in future.
