I've been using the Snipping Tool on Windows 11, but I find it quite hard to use. In addition, it lacks the editing features I need. I'm looking for recommendations for alternative screenshot tools that are user-friendly and come with robust editing capabilities. Ideally, the alternative should offer features such as:
SnipTaker. Take screenshot + edit screenshot + screen recording in one place. If you need advance image editing feature after taking screenshot, then this is the best option to try out. Below is the step by step tutorial you can check out:
I recently tried using the built-in Snipping Tool on Windows 11 to take screenshots of some lengthy tech blog posts, and I've got to say, it was a letdown. The tool just doesn't support scrolling screenshots, which is a major oversight in functionality for anyone trying to capture more than what's visible on the screen.
The process of trying to manually capture multiple sections of a webpage and then stitching them together is just tedious and time-consuming. It defeats the purpose of having a quick and efficient screenshot tool. Plus, there's always the issue of not getting the alignments right, which just looks sloppy.
Regarding the use of screenshot tools, I personally prefer to use the one that comes with my system. Although this tool lacks some of the advanced features of other professional screen capture software, it's easy to use and comes with the operating system, so when I need to take a quick screenshot, it's always at hand. But to be honest, the system's own cropping function is really a bit weak, sometimes quite a headache ...... haha!
While there are many alternatives to Snipping Tool on the market that offer more comprehensive annotation tools, I usually only consider using them when I need more sophisticated editing features. Overall, each tool has its own scenario, and choosing the right one can make the work more efficient!
I am using the SnipTaker software recommended by expert in this tech community. Easy to take full/custom screenshot. Most importantly, it has a powerful editing tool that comes with the program. You can edit the screenshot immediately such as add text, shapes and curves. Also a screen recording option is available. This is the best alternative to snipping tool on Windows 11!
I think if that's the case, it could be because they are planning to release some new tools that are more powerful and integrated. What do you guys think? Does anyone know of any new plans from Microsoft, or have a recommended alternatives to Snipping Tool for Windows 11?
Quite convenient and easy to use the built-in Snipping Tool on Windows 11 but it has several limitations. One of the primary drawbacks is its lack of advanced editing features. Users can only perform basic actions like cropping, highlighting, and annotating. For more sophisticated tasks such as layering, advanced cropping, or detailed graphic editing, users need to rely on other software like Adobe Photoshop.
Lastly, the Snipping Tool lacks integration with cloud storage and sharing options. Unlike some third-party tools that allow automatic uploads to cloud services or direct sharing via URL, users have to manually save and upload their captures when using the Snipping Tool.
I got rid of Cortana for security reasons but I just click "all apps" scroll down to "windows accessories" scroll down to "snipping tool". I would drag it to the task bar for future 1 click access. I was surprised by how much I use it.
The title says it all. I customized different keyboard shortcuts. But every single shortcut config still keeps bringing up windows snipping tool. This is Windows 11. Is this a known bug? Are there any workarounds?
This is true. It arose because Microsoft changed things when it released Windows 11. So the problem is with Microsoft rather than Evernote. I'm sure that there could be some work done by Evernote to resolve the issue but since the workaround is trivial I anticipate that it will be sometime in arriving.
Meanwhile, I recommend Win+Shift+S which will open the Windows snipping tool with the cross hairs (just like the Evernote process used to have). Highlight the screen area you wish to snip. Then open the note where you want this to be captured (if it is a new note tap Ctrl+N) and tap Ctrl+V to paste the clip into the note.
To make things a bit less hassle I reset the New Note shortcut to Ctrl+Alt+N. Ctrl+N often launches a new window for whichever application has focus so doesn't always open a new note in Evernote unless Evernote has focus. Ctrl+Alt+N usually work regardless...
Ive withheld upgrading to the latest Evernote for years because of how I used evernote in my workflow, I upgraded earlier today and now my Evernote screenshots wont work on Win11 and it has becomes a sort of muscle memory for me to take screenshots using Evernote for around decade. Now it doesn't work =/
Use the Windows snipper (Win+Shift+S), capture the screen area and paste into a new note. If you wish, make the Windows screen capture directory an Evernpte Import Folder and then Win+Shift+S will work exactly as the Evernote screen capture previously did.
I would hardly call the original workaround "trivial." It is three keystrokes instead of one. But this last tip is brilliant and works well enough: add the Windows screen capture directory (C:\Users[User Name]\Pictures\Screenshots) as an Evernote Import Folder. Thank you agsteele!
the location of the snipping tool program is %windir%\systems32\SnippingTool.exe
I created a shortcut on the Public Desktop
so I wondering if this is a error with the search function and reindexing
I have worked on a HHUUGGEE number of Windows servers and desktop over my career and rarely have the search function not worked. When it did not work it was matter of re-indexing or enabling the service.
I have the same problem, but not using snipping tool. In fact, it happens almost each time I change windows. I mean : I am drawing in Aseprite (using any tool), then I browse some websites with Firefox => when I come back to Aseprite : no mouse pointer. Sometimes I can see the pointer lagging 15 sec then vanishing.
I was able to reproduce the bug (even the pointer lagging) just one time doing some random stuff with pointers/pens (wacom + windows stylus). Now I need to understand the exact steps that reproduce the issue, but at least now I know that I might be able to reproduce the problem in my PC.
I re-installed aseprite and my wacom drivers, the problem still remains, BUT this time if I press alt+tab 2 or 3 times (which means: go to other tabs for a while) and return to aseprite, my tools start working again
So I went to the Wacom driver webpage and saw 6.3.27-2 was the last one. I installed it, and now the mouse pointer disappears way less than before, and like @Nabuco if I press alt+tab 2-3 times everything works again.
I just bought the program yesterday and this has been happening to me all the way, I hvent been able to use it, since I have to chat usually with my clients and is super frustrating. I use an old bamboo tablet,
what might be the solution?
When I paste the screenshot in a program, the border stays with the picture. When pasting the screenshot in Paint.NET however the border disappears and it seems to be transparent in stead of a border. I can't remember when this was starting to happen, is this a setting that I have overlooked in Paint.net?
I did some testing with the snipping tool. The option "Show selection overlay when Snipping is Active" is marked. Notice that when I paste the picture in other programs, the border is showing correctly.
After some more research I found out that this problem was only when I selected "black" as border in the snipping tool. When I select another color like a red border, it does paste correctly in paint.NET.
Don't know exactly what you mean, because I don't use any windows snipping tool.I use "Screenshot 3.36.0" (install package gnome-screenshot). Which I have bound to the "print-screen"-button.Which this you can copy the screen (or window) to the clipboard or save to file.
I've used the Snipping Tool for many years, and just recently when I select to save an image, the resulting image is keeping a grey background within the selected target. As you can see below, instead of having the selected image on its original white background, it's an unintended shaded grey. How do I prevent this from happening?
Hello,What is the App theme setting for the Snipping Tool? With the snipping tool open, click the Tree dots on the right side of the screen.Choose settings, then scroll down to the app theme setting. What is it set at?Darrell
Very helpful. I didn't notice this grey background in my screenshot pictures until recently as I turned on HDR few weeks ago. I checked the other solution I found on another Microsoft site but didn't work. This HDR turned off is real solution. Intresting, how did you find out this?
This doesn't quite work. On a HDR Win11 system with many apps(including latest version of Edge in HDR mode): If HDR option in snipping tool is on, grey background. If HDR option is off, the whole content over-saturated. Guess Microsoft has not yet quite figured out how to implement HDR across system.
Hi, I've just purchased Start11. I have the windows snipping tool pinned to the task bar, and I'm using the "Never combine" option. It works fine, but when I go to use snipping tool and take one more screen/window grabs, the instances of snipping tool don't show up on the task bar at all. In fact, after taking the screen grab it disappears all together, meaning I have to sift through windows to find it again. Taking multiple screen grabs is something I do often, and having each instance visible on the task bar is important for productivity.
