s\Administrator\Application Data\Dr. Memory/resfile.160: 2
~~Dr.M~~ WARNING: application exited with abnormal code 0xc000001d

I already tired "-dr_debug" options Still no change in result

Please Help....

Thanks in Advance

You're getting an illegal instruction fault very early on.  What application are you running?  Does notepad or calc run?  How about a hello, world app?

Other things to look for:
+ Invasive AV or other security software can cause early crashes.  Do you have the same AV on both machines?  Can you try on a machine with different software?

+ Try with '-dr_debug -dr_ops "-msgbox_mask 15"'.  Do you see any popup message box at all?

What's your command line, it looks like Dr.Memory think -dr_debug is the executable.

C:\Documents and Settings\test>"C:\Program Files\Dr. Memory\bin\drmemory.exe" -dr_debug -- "C:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe"

The above is the command line I used and getting thr error:-

WARNING: unable to locate results file since can't open C:\Documents and Settings\test\Application Data\Dr. Memory/resfile.2332: 2
~~Dr.M~~ WARNING: application exited with abnormal code 0xc000001d

On my xpsp3 VM that command works fine, and when we put out the 1.7.0-5 release we tested on xpsp3.  So there is something specific about your machine or setup.

Are there permissions issues with the "test" user's Application Data directories or something?  Does it work if you run as admin?  Does it work if you drag calc.exe onto the drmemory.exe desktop icon?

Does this command work, producing a start and stop message and calc running in between:

"C:\Program Files\Dr. Memory\dynamorio\bin32\drrun.exe" -msgbox_mask 15 -- "C:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe"

I have the same problem

1) win XP SP3 32 bits
2) no AV software
3) my user name is "vtorri" without quotes
4) i installed Dr Memory 1.7.0-5 (sfx)

when I run :

"C:\Program Files\Dr. Memory\dynamorio\bin32\drrun.exe" -msgbox_mask 15 -- "C:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe"

no message, but i can briefly see a window being created and disappearing immediatly.

with Dr Memory and notepad.exe :

drmemory.exe -- c:\windows\notepad.exe

same warning message : WARNING: application exited with abnormal code 0xc000001d

in DynamoRIO, if -debug and -msgbox_mask 0xf, you should see many message boxes.
no any message catch your attention?

with :

"c:\Program Files\Dr_Memory\dynamorio\bin32\drrun.exe" -debug -msgbox_mask 0xf -- "c:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe"

i see no box at all

Could you run that command line ("c:\Program Files\Dr_Memory\dynamorio\bin32\drrun.exe" -debug -msgbox_mask 0xf -- c:\WINDOWS\system32\calc.exe) under a debugger (we use windbg from Debugging Tools for Windows), follow into the child process, and get a callstack of the illegal instruction fault as well as disassembly of the instruction itself?

What hardware are you running on?  It is an old processor?

i'll try to run it tomorrow into gdb with msys (a bit late here...)

I run Win XP in VirtualBox (because my system is Win 7 64 bits and it is said in the doc that DrMemory runs only on Windows 32 bits). Otherwise i have an i7 3770

Dr. Memory runs fine a 64-bit Windows kernel (as does any 32-bit Windows user-mode app).  It just only supports running 32-bit applications, currently.

I've never used Windbg. I did "File->Open Executable", I selected drrun.exe, then I could see in another windbg window : http://codepad.org/xX16tYKB

is there something to do to have debug symbols ?

Ask to follow into children (".childdbg 1"), continue execution ("g"), continue past any further first-chance events like the child creation, and see where the crash is.
