It seems there already is support for this in the kernel: https://github.com/regalstreak/Beast-Kernel-Samsung-StarPro/blob/master/drivers/usb/gadget/storage_common.c#L788-L821

I can't really say this with 100% certainty, since I cannot compile and test the kernel on my phone.

Have you tried DriveDroid to see whether it shows a CD-rom device as well as a USB device?
