After installation I'm able to create new mathcad-worksheets, but it seems, that there is a very annoying watermark in the background (something like "Created with PTC Mathcad Express... For further information visit....").
The questions is: What happens if a user opens with Express a Mathcad document which utilizes features not allowed by Express? Will it still solve the solve block or give the symbolic result for example? It is clear, that the user will not be allowed to make his own symbolic regions, etc., but what about the already existing ones? Express would be only usable as a Mathcad Reader if it would display dynamically any mathcad file. Similar to what Mathtype degrades to after the trial period.
Feels like it's a bloated reader ... because it is a full install which is good for 30 days. There are other "free" products that give you more functionality, less bloat, and even portability. Granted, most of the "free" alternatives are not as mature as MathCAD, but it gets the job done. As an example, one of the "free" programs allows for graphing where MathCAD express does not.
PTC Mathcad express takes the guesswork out of engineering calculations. The software allows you to easily convert units and avoid costly mistakes altogether. The express version will give you 30-day access to the pro version free of charge for an even more advanced experience. The easy to use interface gives you access to advanced calculations and allows annotations directly on plans for ease of use. You can also easily share your work amongst team members for collaboration.
- Evaluate expressions and functions without the need to assign numerical values to variables. Keywords and modifiers control form and content of the displayed result, and integrate numeric and symbolic computation.
