Blood & Platelet Donations Needed Immediately

To the SAR Community:

 

Yossi (Jason) Mazurek (AC '06) is currently a patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His treatment requires regular blood and platelet transfusions. Yossi's family would deeply appreciate blood and platelet donations on his behalf. We estimate his immediate need will be for the next week through July 21. We will be sending out email updates for his expected future need for two more cycles of treatment.


All designated donations must be made by appointment in the blood donor room of Memorial Sloan Kettering, 1250 First Avenue, New York, NY.  To make an appointment, please call (212) 639-7648, and after July 11, please call (212) 639-8177.

According to the person I spoke to at the Blood Donor Room:

 

Only O+ and O- can donate blood and platelets to O+.

 

You should wait 6 weeks between blood donations, 1 week between platelet donations, and 1 week between blood donation and platelet donation.
