Sensei,

The Office of Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann is excited to
participate in the safe pharmaceutical disposal project in northwest
Ohio. This community initiative reflects many of the ideals of our
office. The foremost goal of removing toxins from our waterways is,
in itself, an admirable aspiration. But, this program will have
several other ancillary, but equally beneficial, outcomes. These
include the engagement of the community, a chance to work with local
law enforcement to capture dangerous prescription drugs before they
illegally enter our neighborhoods, and an opportunity to raise
awareness about dangers to our environment. We are very interested
offering our assistance to see this plan become a success.

I have spoken to some of our local and federal law enforcement
agencies about the disposal initiative. Several police chiefs from
Lucas County have offered to allow their stations to be used as
collection sites. The local DEA office is prepared to put us in touch
with their regional diversion officers (who deal with those drugs that
are not illegal to begin with, such as RX medication.) The chiefs are
interested in more information as it becomes available.

Also, I have met some of the local environmental organizations from
northwest Ohio who have shown interest in what you are doing.
Apparently the Toledo Zoo hosts a toxic substance recycling drive on
earth day every year. I have contact information to discuss possibly
partnering with and setting up a collection site with the Zoo. I had
a very brief discussion with a group called Natures Nursery which
cares for injured/sick animals and offers community education about
the environment. They would also be interested in some more info as
it becomes available.

Feel free to contact me if you need further clarification or
information.

Good luck with your presentation! Sorry I am unable to attend.

-Mike
