Sensei,

This project is receiving good response thus far.

I brought it up during the general discussion portion of the Lucas
County Criminal Justice Administrators meeting this morning. Several
of Lucas County's chiefs supported the idea and the suggestion was
made that their stations be used as drop off points. The Toledo
office of the DEA also showed interest, unfortunately, they don't have
any agents who deal with "diversion" in this office. The agents based
here deal with the obviously illicit drugs; cocaine, crack, meth,
etc. They will contact the diversion agents in the Detroit office
once we are able to provide them with more information. The Lucas Co.
Coroner was also very supportive of the program and contracts with a
medical waste disposal company to have Rx drugs, which his office
finds at the homes of decedents, incinerated. Chief Gulch, from the
Oregon PD and President of the LCCJA, asked that we keep him in the
loop and he will help us distribute information and solicit feed
back. Sheriff Telb was not at this morning's meeting, I will contact
his office about possible participation.

My supervisor was supportive of my participation and the broader
participation of our office. I also ran it passed one of our
environmental protection attorneys who thinks it is a good cause and
reminded her of a similar program to safely dispose of old paint.

The incorporation process for 501c3 status is more involved than I
had initially indicated, we should look into the whole process and see
if you still want to go that route. Regardless, I will bring you a
copy of our discretionary grant application and supporting paperwork.
You will be able to view our paperwork/process, look for other
possibilities, and decide how you want to advance.

Lastly, I don't know how sold you are on the name? If a trade in
program for saplings is worked out, perhaps "Pharmaceuticals to
Forests"? But, the name will be the easy part and can be addressed
much later.

See you at class!

Feel free to contact me if you have concerns on this, or any other
issue.

Sincerely,

Mike Morrison
