Q: After installing Windows security update KB824141, quick search no longer works correctly. What can I do?
A: Please update to the current version of Total Commander! If you want to keep version 5.51, you can use a hotfix which contains a workaround to this problem. You can download it here. The hotfix contains just the new program totalcmd.exe and needs to be installed to the same directory as the installed version of Total Commander 5.51. The hotfix is not needed for Total Commander 6.0 or later!
Q: After upgrading from Total Commander 4.0 to 4.5, the start of Total Commander takes one minute instead of 1 second! What can I do?
A: This problem is probably caused by your virus scanner. Totalcmd.exe is packed with the EXE packer ASPack. Certain virus scanners seem to observe the startup of each program in single step mode, which is of course terribly slow. Solution: Exclude totalcmd.exe from the scan operation - Total Commander contains a built-in virus protection. We also offer (by support e-mail) an unpacked version of Total Commander to registered users if you cannot disable the scan of totalcmd.exe in your company.
Q: When I start Total Commander, I get a warning within the first few seconds that totalcmd.exe is defective, probably caused by an unknown virus. However, my virus scanner doesn't find a virus!
A: Total Commander contains a checksum function, which checks at every program start whether the program has been modified. If you receive the above message, the checksum function has detected a modification. This may have several reasons:
1. In most cases this is caused by a new virus which is unknown to your scanner. You should immediately get the latest antiviral data for your scanner, and/or a second scanner.
2. Total Commander is located on a (network) drive in a directory to which you only have execute rights, but no read rights. Total Commander needs read rights too.
3. If the error only occurs from time to time, and you also have some inexplicable crashes, the reason is most probably a defective memory module (RAM).
4. After the installation of a new version of Total Commander, it can happen that parts of the old program are still in cache, which can cause this error. After a reboot, the error should disappear.
I try to push some file to Github and total size is only 22.2M. I don't know why it stuck after the total line. I've read the Git push hangs when pushing to Github? and tried each answer but it doesn't work at all. Does it works fine? Do I have any method to accelerate this process?
I have a corrupted CD from which I want to copy files. The problem is that the default Windows 7 copy utility gets completely stuck when it encounters a corrupted sector of the CD. Can you recommend utilities with an option to manually skip certain files on-the-fly, or with option to specify a time out for every file copy?

That means that rather than copying one file at a time in serial order, RichCopy can open multiple threads simultaneously, allowing many files to be copied in parallel and cutting the total time required to complete the operation several times over. You can also pause and resume file copy operations, so if you lose network connectivity at any point, you can just pick up where you left off.
To get real information on why the connection is stuck, you're going to have to use a client that logs all of the protocol commands to see what's really happening. Theres a good site on FTP with example logs here.
I recently put a new drive into my array and I want to move some of my TV shows off my older drives which are almost 100% full to my new drive. All my drives are part of the same user share, though in MC I am accessing them as separate disk shares. The speed that Midnight Commander moves these files averages out to be about 2.1 MB/s. The way that it does it is strange though--it has a quick burst where things look like they are going normally for 100 to 200 MB, then it sits there for about a minute like it is stuck. Eventually, it gets unstuck and manages another spurt of a couple hundred megabytes.
Earlier, I accidentally closed a shell with the close button
while midnight commander was still open, and the process hung up so bad
I could not kill it in any way. I could not run mc again in any way, and
I had to reboot.
First I want to say I have other corsair products that aren't stuck. My mouse (dark core RGB), my headset (Void pro Wireless), and my RAM (4 Vengence RGB Pro) are all working fine, and are puking rainbows like normal.
at first the hard stopped detecting i think it happened after a power failure. then after a cleaning the PC it detected and open once. it show an error saying windows system 32 file is corrupted check disk it and got stuck. after the second boot it never opened and i had to use a live run windows CD to check the Hard. after the windows open the hard shows C drive as corrupted says to format and D drive was perfect. yes thats the same Hard with two partition. when i start chkdsk it started showing unreachable. and later on after some boots the hard stopped showing on the PC and even cant run live CD while the hard is connected. any fix for this anyone??
I tryin to copy avi files from a dvd . The files Seem so play usin media player or win amp but gets stuck at certain point . . Some copy and play perfectly others say cyclic refuncy check . . How can i copy these files which play but dont copy . . I tried to copy it to another removal disc so its not my hard drive that has a problem . .Wat do i do
Hi I have problem in My HDD for PST file where Bad sector is causing to read pst file. I am unable to transfer to another HDD or can not take backup for PST. I tried CHKDSK /R and SANPST but did not help. how can I fix this without buying SPINRITE, PST file is about 1.9 MB, please help me I am stuck using outlook for 3 weeks.SpinRite remains my next recommended step. Yes, it may not work (you can get your money back, I believe), but I know of no other tool that does what it does as well as it does it.-Leo
