I use Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2 on EC2. I run an hourly snapshot on the drive these reside on. When nothing critical is changing, these snapshots come out just fine - but every now and again I get a bad snapshot. We're working a windows domain environment on a samba4 server. It seams like that the error message doesn't appear when you are working with the domain admin rights. Normal user (with full edit rights) experience the problem regular though not always. I could narrow the problem down, seems like it appears a little randomly too.
I tested version 1.6.17 on a spare windows 10 PC before migrating older vaults and I noticed frequent lock problems when FUSE is used. After a lot of testing it appears that when a vault contains a .exe file in any folder/subfolder and that location is simply opened, it prevents the vault from locking. This is without running the .exe, just opening the folder is enough to cause the lock fail.

I have the same problem. I own a 1 tb Mypassport WD Harddrive. It first happened when I accidentally formatted my hard drive so that I can open my hd in Mac. Now, when I plug my hd in laptops, I only see the UNLOCK/LOCK folder and not the HD folder itself.
I know this is a very old thread, but I found a Fix that worked for me. Turns out MalwareBytes was doing something odd when I connected my external drives. Force closing MalwareBytes allowed my device to operate normally again. Hooray!! Hope this helps someone else!
Hello, this happened to me as well. first I unlocked the WD Unlocker by putting in my password but nothing popped up. So What I did for Mac was I went to Finder, then applications (left hand side) after that I clicked Go (on the very top) then Computer and there it was!! I hope this helps someone.
When you unlocked your drive using the tutorial, go to the disk management screen in Ubuntu, go to your passport storage disk, which looks like a normal drive with the correct capacity, but it seems to be unmounted.
All you have to do now is mount your drive (just a 1 click button) and Linux can access the files.
