8 years of war. No More!

On this Tuesday night, Dec.1, from West Point, President Obama will announce an additional
deployment of US troops to Afghanistan. Advance word is that the
size will be 25,000-35,000 additional US troops. Therefore, the Anti-War Alert Emergency Response Demonstration, initiated by the Brandywine Peace
Community and Philly Against War with the co-sponsorship of other area peace
and anti-war groups, will be on Wednesday,
December 2 (the day after the announcement) from
4:30-6 pm at the West side of Philadelphia City Hall (15th and
Market Streets.)
We know that, despite what the President says about "exit strategies"
or "getting the job done" it will mean an escalation of the war - more war, more money for war,
more deaths of American military personnel and innocent Afghan civilians. We
cannot allow the hopes of a more just society and the promise of the Obama
Administration - health care for all, housing, repairing our already war-torn
economy - to be buried in the continuing policy of war and militarism.
Polls show that the American people now oppose the war in Afghanistan. We
the people MUST send a strong message that this is the wrong course of action. For some suggestions about
other courses of action please visit http://www.warresisters.org/node/893
