hey friends
just wanted to share a few links about the enormous, inspiring, and powerful student organizing that's been happening all across California in the past few weeks. for those who don't know, the UC Board of Regents recently approved a 32% increase in tuition for the whole system of public universities.
students at UC Davis, Berkeley, UCLA, Santa Cruz, as well as many CSU schools like San Francisco State went on strike, refused to go to class, and instead held enormous rallies, sit-ins and occupations. dozens were arrested when the colleges resorted to police violence, but the student actions have continued and incorporated the support of faculty, staff, and labor unions.
this is history, probably the largest student actions of the 00's, and we can learn a lot if we're paying attention. so here's 3 links to learn more:
