Iwas able to get rid of everything in the norton.txt file, but when I rerun find I get "Operation not permitted" for a lot of files & directories in "/private/var/folders" and "/System/Volumes/Data/"
(I posted this in StackOverflow but they suggested I try over here)(I see a similar question here: How do I remove kext files after uninstalling Norton Antivirus on mac to then install Avast? but I am not sure if I am able to unload the kext files because my Find command may not even find them yet!)
Although I don't mention Norton Clean in my thread I have suspected that Clean was indeed the culprit, since all the latest updates from my carrier, Verizon, have been installed on the replacement phone I received. There are no issues to date with the replacement device. Things got so bad that eventually there was no "touch" inputs available, I then had to factory reset the device using the external keys and remove my data then return the phone as bad. Please, also keep in mind, these devices are known for black screen issues with the inner screen. I'm on my 3rd device for that reason.
Just an update to previous posts. I have NOT reinstalled Norton Clean on my replacement device. To date, there are no issues. Android 13, at least the Verizon release doesn't play well with Norton Clean for some reason. I DON'T recommend using it.
Thank you for posting this thread. I do find it very interesting although I do not own the devices you have mentioned. It would be easier to find if moved to a different forum and also helpful to others there with similar issues.
That said I have used Norton Clean for some time now and do not find it to be very useful or informative. The cleaning of junk files it does on my phone is very minimal something like 600KB while other cleaners find 214MB to clean.
The award page that comes up is very trivial and may be made for children I would assume and the only real feature I found useful is the percentage of storage used which is available of course through other means. Deleting of apps can also be helpful but I have many other ways to uninstall.
@BAKAR88 Following up with the thread. I have not reinstalled Norton Clean on my Galaxy Z-Fold 3 5G since it died earlier this year. To date, I have NOT had any of the issues that I had before having to have the device replaced. I am of firm belief that Norton Clean was the issue, in that, it wasn't fully compatible with the release of Android 13 as it was released. My personal recommendation for you is uninstall the app and await Norton to revamp it.

Just installed BT's Norton Security on a new Mac 24' desktop. ( this App previously run on an old Mac without any problems) I ran an update which seemed to go OK. I then ran the Clean facility which moved a large amount of stuff to the trash bin. The screen showed the Clean page with the circulating trail indicating scan was in progress with 24MB cleaned in the centre of the circle. However, the circulating trail went on for over an hour without any more files going to the trash bin. Clicking stop failed to close the scanning and I eventually had to Force Quit the application. Anyone else had the same problem?
The Norton Security App from BT doesn't seem to be as good as the previous anti virus app. the "Clean " operation searches out "similar items and duplicates." but similar does not mean the same and duplicates may be required in different places on the Mac. I have to be careful to uncheck things or lose wanted files meaning I have to recover stuff from back-up.
I had problems migrating it from from the old Mac and had to fully uninstall it ans re load from the BT website. even the the clean didn't work properly and didn't finish cleaning, just kept running till I forced a quit.
I bought a new Mac 24" M1 a week oge and booted it up using migration from my old 2011 iMac All apps transferred ok apart from the Bt supplied Norton Security app. see my initial posting..The app is so inconsistent and required numero uninstalls and re-installs but stool failed to work twice the same way in any re-install. The latest uninstall has somehow managed to lock me out of my internet connection making it impossible to reconnect. Trying to contact Norton other than by their tick tick this Tick help page is impossible. Like wise trying to find a meaningful or useful solution via BT"s help pages. I've just rebooted from scratch again and the Norton Security is still Locking me our of me internet.
Now my keyboard is totally dark and I can't see what is on any of the keys. Fortunately I'm mostly a touch typist, but this is crazy that I have a $300 keyboard and accessories that I can't use fully. The online help FAQ is worthless. "Find and MFT reader and fix it yourself". Thanks.
This seems to be one of the continuing issues with the new CUE 5. If you've done the normal "clean install" directions from CUE and it won't work, reboot to safe mode and try to do the registry clean and delete again. Another option is to use professional removal software like Revo or similar products. They will hunt for hidden files you (and the uninstaller) may have missed. I had to do it about a month back as used Revo, but the safe mode should work too.
This just happened to me. Did not get a choice to update or not. Rebooted and AGAIN, my iCue and all my setting are gone. This is just plain stupid at this point. I forgot about Revo and I'll try that but that didn't resolve the issue of every freakin update totally removes "some" of the software.
my experience of Norton is that a complete uninstall of the previous version leaves way more than just a trace of what was there before. like several Mb plus more registry entries than you could manually tidy up in an evening.
and a new version was fully aware of what had been installed before, even after an uninstall.
when I surrender my rights to a licence, I expect that s/w supplier to surrender their rights to the use of my HDD and registry resources etc.
