I want to port the entire block of DDIs to a VoIP provider. In the future, I would like to be able to add purely IP phones to the phone network and have them function seamlessly with the legacy PBX. For example, if we acquire office space in a different building.
The HiPath 3550 can take expansion card HXGS3 (apparently also known as HG 1500). This expansion card is a VoIP gateway board, and would allegedly receive calls via SIP trunks with a VoIP provider. Hopefully it could be configured to ring the correct extensions.
Alternatively, we might buy a nice Asterisk appliance from Digium or similar. This box would receive incoming VoIP calls and hand them over to the HiPath PBX, and likewise for outgoing calls from the PBX.
So for Ireland we have ISDN in to box using G703 connections (look like BNC) that box spits out a CAT 5 cable into the PBX. (Now Im from the UK and its almost always the same) All this kit belongs to the telco.
So all you do is slip the gateway between this interface and the PBX. Tell the gateway what numbers to transparently pass to the PBX and what numbers to pass to the VOIP system. All you will need is special CAT 5 cable that wired a bit differently to ethernet, cant remember how but any phone engineer will know.
The other way (2nd choice) you can do this is by creating a PRI relay or PRI wedge install with Asterisk. In this case the asterisk box will sit between the Co and the HiPath. You will do this by using a dual port PRI card in the asterisk box. To the Co (telco) asterisk will be a PBX and to the HiPath asterisk will act like the Co (telco). In this configuration the asterisk box will be in pass through mode just relaying calls between the PRI ports. But it will also be able to intercept and redirect calls from VoIP or the PRI side.
The last way I can think of to do this is with an asterisk box and a FXO gateway. The fxo gateway will act as a telephone handset to the HiPath. Calls coming into the asterisk PBX will be directed to the FXO gateway that will basically pick up the hand set on the HiPath and dial the destination number. This setup is tricky and some times problematic but it will work if setup carefully.
Here I have a Siemens HiPath 3550 and 3 OpenStage 15T phones. Are 2 more phone in boxes. I tried this new terminals in the same positions where actually are working the others but the device just make a red blink in the keyboard and nothing more. I can change the using devices between them and are working, but those 2 new terminals are not working in position.

ok kindly fix the HG 1500 ip card,and upload its to the hipath 3500 using the software ,make sure its active,then configure an ip address to the hig card,a defult.ip so when ever u re login in to the system try and choose the hig ip
