#BCNstandswithCEU URGENTE

Dear collegues,
We are writing to inform you about the protest we are organizing in defense of academic freedom, which will take place tomorrow, Friday, April 7th at 5pm in Plaça Universitat (Barcelona).
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
The Hungarian government voted a new law on higher-education that has as a main objective ejecting the Central European University (CEU) from Budapest, Hungary. This is a clear political attack against one of the best European universities, which will be obliged to close and leave the country, if the situation does not improve.
WHY ARE WE PROTESTING?
To defend the right to academic freedom and the values of a free and democratic society. Many cities and universities in the world are standing up now in solidarity with our colleagues from CEU. International pressure is the only way we could lead the Hungarian president to veto the lay. It is crucial to come out on the street tomorrow to put pressure on the Hungarian government.
WHO IS JOINING THIS CAUSE?
Below you can find all the institution that offered public support to CEU, amongst which Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Thousands of researchers, amongst which 2 Nobel prize winners joined the cause.

Queridos colegas,les escribimos este correo para informarles de la concentración que se celebrará mañana viernes a las 17h en Plaça Universitat (Barcelona) para defender la libertad académica.
QUÉ ESTÁ PASANDO?
El gobierno húngaro ha aprobado una nueva ley que tiene como objetivo atacar a la Central European University (CEU), situada en Budapest, Hungría. Se trata de un ataque político a una de las mejores universidades de Europa, que se verá obligada a cerrar o trasladarse si la situación no mejora.
POR QUÉ PROTESTAMOS?
Para defender el derecho a la libertad académica y los valores que caracterizan una sociedad libre y democrática. Muchas ciudades y Universidades en todo el mundo se están sumando a la causa, en solidaridad con los compañeros de CEU. La presión internacional es el único recurso que tenemos para que el presidente de la república húngara vete la ley. Es esencial salir a la calle para aumentar la presión.
QUIÉN SE HA SUMADO A LA CAUSA?
