We had a cold snap last weekend-so cold I was shivering and needed
wool socks and the heat on. Mountain weather....what can you say.
However, the greatest thing that came to my mind was that it was
Autumns reminder that she is on her way. What does that mean? Well of
course harvests and color changes and awesome beauty and the essence
of people changes too.
But it also means, for most of us in the U.S. that we have a little
while longer to enjoy the family at the lakes and streams, to play and
explore before the children head back to school.
So I send this message to you just as a loving reminder that time is
zhrooming by us and a new season is almost here.
So HAVE FUN and live life the way your love!
So there are a few new items instock.
Tinctures, there are several new ones on the cart as well as salves.
More things coming as I harvest and make as well.
It has been a great year or learning here-and I suspect next year I
will have an arsensal of even more plant medicines.
You just cannot learn and do it all in a season despite that I was out
in the wild studying, harvesting and being with the plants about every
day!
I am very excited about this years crops as the medicine here is
magical-no doubt!
Even non beleivers in what I do, come to visit and completely admit at
how they are enchanted:)
The air is crisp and clean and the ground is rich for most forest
plants. Then the eco system changes quite a bit to desert type of
soils that grow completely different things.
I spent most of my summer in the forest. Learning here has been a
blessing to my inner soul!
But my favorite medicine this year, by far, is Arrowleaf Balsamroot.
Balsamorrhiza sagittta.
Balsamroot blooms in early to mid spring-one of the first yellow
flowers to open up in the dry regions of the valley.
The flowers are 3-5 inches and the leaves are very large, some can be
a foot in length.
I beleive I saw this compositaea first bloom in April or early May
here.
It loves the dry, open hillsides, shallow rocky soil with nothing but
dirt and maybe a few tridenta artemesia plants around.
This is a higher elevation plant that grows at 3000-7000 feet.
The action of Arrowleaf Balsamroot is much like the well known
echinacea. The root helps stimulate the immune system, helps expel
mucus from the lungs, acts as a disinfectant and anti microbial. I
love the mellow resiny flavor of the tinctured root as well.
I also have catnip repellant in 4 oz bottles for $7 -these do not have
sprayers.
I can also send an 8 oz mason jar as well. for $14
Soap will start increasing next month in the shoppe. when the warmer
weather is on its way out, I like to blend those warming essential
oils in my soap creations. They really help!
Blessings to you all! Keep on doing all the good things you do!
Love,
Kristena
