Dear Community Members,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek clarification regarding the Representative Volume Element (RVE) that I generated from EBSD data. Upon processing, I noticed that the resulting RVE is three-dimensional. I would like to understand why this occurs, and more importantly, how I can generate a two-dimensional RVE instead.

Any guidance or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and assistance.图片1.png

In DREAM.3D each volume element has 3 dimensions: X, Y and Z. Therefor even for a “2D” slice, the model will have some depth in the z direction. If you want to lessen visually the Z dimension there is a filter “Change Origin & Spacing” where you can adjust the Z spacing. If you need a model that is a strictly set of triangles that only lie in a single z plane then you may have to write some post processing codes to remove all triangles that do not lie on a specific plane.
