Hello Mike,

I am interested in generating a structured hexahedral mesh (voxelised mesh) of the microstructure, generated using DREAM-3D in the .msh format. I know there is a filter by the name "Export 3d solid mesh" which requires  local GMSH installation. Based on some readings on the d3d google group, I have used this filter and put up a filter of "Quick Surface Mesh '' and "Export STL Files from Triangle Geometry" before that. When I run this pipeline, I am able to get a tet mesh of the microstrucuture, whereas I am interested in getting a regular hex mesh.

Is it possible to get a structured hex (voxelised) mesh of the microstructure from DREAM-3D in the .msh format (just like its obtained for the Abaqus .inp format)?

Regards,

Danish

In theory yes it is possible but currently that functionality is not available. It would take someone to modify the AbaqusHexahedron Writer to create the .msh file. The file format doesn’t look too bad to implement. This would be a good Python filter.
