Dear Colleagues,

I have generated a RVE from EBSD data, and the resulting geometry lies in the XY plane. I would like to rotate this geometry to the XZ plane about the X-axis. However, the "Apply Transformation to Geometry" filter in Dream3D does not appear to work on the geometry.

Could you please suggest an alternative filter that can achieve this rotation? I have attached my files for your reference.

Thank you for your assistance.

Using the “Apply Transformation to Geometry” in DREAM3D-NX with a “Rotation” Transformation Type and a Rotation Axis-Angle of 1,0,0 @ 90 Degrees will do the trick.

This is what the filter should look like when completed.

And your resulting EBSD data now on the XZ plane.

Your  method works well in DREAM3D-NX, but it seems the .dream3D file created by DREAM3D-NX can not be well identified by software Paraview (version 5.13.1, Windows platform).

I have attached a  .dream3D file created by DREAM3D-NX  for your check.

I want to know if the filter "Apply Transformation to Geometry"  can work in DREAM3D-6.5.171, I have tried it but failed.  The .dream3D file created by DREAM3D-6.5.171 has good compatibility with Paraview.

Thank you.

Hello,
I just tried the same pipeline in DREM3D-NX Version 7.0.1 and I am able to correctly import the data into ParaView version 5.13.1.

Please note that you need to use the “XDMF Reader” when loading the data into ParaView.

Thank you very much.

Another question is that there is only one voxel along Z direction of the image generated from EBSD .ctf file. I want to set more voxels along Z direction (such as 5) using the filter “Set Origin & Spacing”. However, it can’t change the number of voxels.

Is there any other filter that can achieve this goal?

Use the “Resample Data (image Geometry)” filter.

Can you shear me the Pipe Line, how you have generate the RVE from EBSD data

Thank you

There are example pipelines included with DREAM.3D version 6.5.171 that show how to reconstruct the EBSD data, compute various statistics and then generate the RVE.
