Hi all,

I am new to dream3d and trying to reconstruct an EBSD scan of a martensitic steel. I will take the training this fall but would like to make some progress beforehand.

I am using a pipeline based on Small IN100 Full Reconstruction. The issue is the FeatureIDs and IPFcolors are too "fine"; not following grains shown with Euler angles. I can modify how FeatureIDs are selected by making large changes to Misorientation tolerance for the Segment Features (Misorientation) filter. This doesn't provide expected featureIDs and I don't think this is correct. Is there a procedure I should follow to get a good reconstruction? How can I get Dream3D recognize the grains properly, ie follow Euler angles?

Thanks,
Ezra

Euler Angles (data from scan with slight cleaning)
Feature IDs (from filter)
IPF colors (should follow feature ID)

Try to re launch the filter to create the 3debsd file and sert up the right option between degree and radiants

Dear Ezra,
My guess is that you will need to ensure that DREAM3D is converting your Euler Angles from Degrees to Radians. There are several different ways that this can be accomplished based on how you are importing your EBSD Data.

If your data is coming directly from an Oxford Instruments .ctf file then in the filter that reads that data there is a parameter to set the interpretation of the Euler Angles.
If you are reading from a H5EBSD file then there is a parameter to set the interpretation of the Euler Angles.

Please ensure these are set correctly and the issue that you are seeing should resolve.

Thanks everyone,

The mistake I made was to select radians instead of degrees for the read h5ebsd filter while the the ctf files were in degrees. The featureIDs are as expected now.

Best,
Ezra
