Hi everyone,

I am trying to model elongated grains where the B/A and C/A aspect ratios are approximately equal (mean B/A = 0.424 and mean C/A = 0.419). The values I input for the B/A distribution is alpha =  2.3664 and beta = 3.2152. For C/A it is alpha = 2.3951 and beta = 3.3177. I have set the Axis ODF so that the A axis is in the Y direction, the B axis is in the X direction, and the C axis is in the Z direction.

However, when I generate the RVE, the B/A aspect ratio is too high (mean of about 0.6) whereas the C/A ratio is roughly accurate. I suspect this is because B must be greater than C in every grain, which leads to the average B axis length being too high. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I've attached my pipeline for reference.

Thanks,

Isabella Snyder

I am not sure there is anything that can be done. I would have to take a deep dive into the code to fully vet that answer, but it is my strong belief that due to how the algorithm generates the grains and then fills the gaps there may not be anything currently that can fix the issue.
