Hello Kevin

I am currently working with the L.A. Union on an immigrant youth film competition titled Cortos y Fuertes. I would appreciate your support in getting the word out about a film competition to youth and possibly inviting me to attend spaces where you think this information would be useful. I was thinking the St. Lawrence Dream Team and possibly some of the high schools you work with.

Cortos y Fuertes / Short and Strong is a film competition meant to create a space for youth to tell their immigrant stories.

This short student film competition is for middle school, high school and college students, our age categories are from 13 and below, 13 to 17, and 17 to undergrad in college. We want youth to be creative and resourceful, even filming with phones.

This is not only an opportunity to have immigrant stories heard but also a chance to win cash prizes to help youth with their education and have their clips seen by an array of judges. There will be a 1st, 2nd and most seen prizes in each age category.

The film contest judges include Rosario Dawson, Dolores Huerta, Antonio Villaraigosa, Esai Morales, Danny Trejo and many more....

Cortos y Fuertes film contest is a joint project of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO and UNITE HERE.

Submissions are done online at www.shortandstrong.com<http://www.shortandstrong.com/> and are due August 16, 2013.
