As a young boy, the main character, named Pete by default, went to his grandfather's farm for the summer.[3] His grandfather was too busy taking care of the farm to spend much time with him, so the boy explored the town and countryside on his own. The boy befriended his grandfather's puppy and met a little girl his own age with whom he became close friends. When the summer was over the boy had to go back home, but he promised the little girl that he would return someday.[4][3] Ten years later, years after his grandfather's death, the boy, now a grown man, returns to the town to take over the farm. Upon meeting the main character, mayor and other villagers decide that he would be allowed to stay as the rightful owner if he restored the farm to its original state within three years. Otherwise, he would have to leave. If he is successful and has married one of the bachelorettes, he will be allowed to stay and his wife reveals that she is the young girl from his childhood.[4][5][3]

Join Apollo 11 on its historic journey. The film seamlessly blends mission audio featuring conversations among Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins with new footage, NASA archive and stunning CGI to recreate the first moon landing.

I'm sure most of us have heard or even used the phrase "to the moon and back." I love you to the moon and back! I used the phrase, "to the moon and never back," in the acknowledgment section of my undergraduate thesis just to be different, because I'm weird like that. But what does it mean, really?

"To the moon and back" is considered a measurement of distance. Going to the moon and going back to the Earth takes a whole lot of distance (more than 400 thousands of miles); and when I say a lot, I mean a lot.

The farthest a human has ever gone to is the moon. An interesting theory to this is that when you tell a person "to the moon and back," you're basically telling them that you're willing to be with them even to the farthest place a human has ever gone to.

Hahaha. I'd been meaning to find out the origins of the phrase because while I was writing the acknowledgments for my thesis, I wrote at the end "to the moon and never back" and questioned if it even made sense XD I only found the time yesterday to actually read about it tho.

Dozens of times over the last decade NASA scientists have launched laser beams at a reflector the size of a paperback novel about 240,000 miles (385,000 kilometers) away from Earth. They announced today, in collaboration with their French colleagues, that they received signal back for the first time, an encouraging result that could enhance laser experiments used to study the physics of the universe.

But even with infrared light, the Grasse telescope received only about 200 photons back out of tens of thousands of pulses cast at LRO during a few dates in 2018 and 2019, Mazarico and his team report in their paper.

Georgia Tech experts discuss why we are returning to the lunar surface, what we might find there, what it might mean for international politics, and why the moon matters for the future of space exploration.

The phrase, which uses the celestial feat and distance to heighten and dramatize the extent of love, may have been boosted by space exploration and the moon landing in the 1960s. An official NASA document, for instance, used the phrase to the moon and back when describing a program in 1969, and the specific phrase has a smattering of instances across the decades prior.

I love you to the moon and back is said between parents and children, romantic partners, friends, and even to pets. It is frequently used on social media. It has been used on social media by a number of celebrities including Jessica Biel to her husband Justin Timberlake, Brooklyn Beckham to his girlfriend Chloe Moretz, Romeo Beckham to his mother Victoria, and Courtney Love to her daughter Frances Bean Cobain. The expression has also been engraved on jewelry and printed on home decorations.

A less common variant is I love you to the stars and back, which a 2017 Filipino romantic comedy took as its title. Some users will further intensify the phrase by swapping out moon for celestial bodies even further away (e.g., I love you to Alpha Centauri and back).

This is not meant to be a formal definition of I love you to the moon and back like most terms we define on Dictionary.com, but is rather an informal word summary that hopefully touches upon the key aspects of the meaning and usage of I love you to the moon and back that will help our users expand their word mastery.

The layout of MOON & BACK takes me aback when I arrive. There are no chairs and tables in the café. Instead there's a clever use of a small space with tiers of seating on one side with the display opposite.

Visually, Back to Nature is attractive and colorful, if not overwhelmingly impressive. The crops and animals are easy to recognize, the character models are simple and reminiscent of Playmobil toys, and the comical anime-style portraits add a touch of humor to the lighthearted feel of the game. The festivals and their respective minigames are visually pleasing, and you'll be anticipating the next big event days in advance. Weather and the seasons are audibly well represented in Back to Nature, as are the animal responses to whistles, the harvest sprite theme music, and other nice touches. The background music becomes quite repetitive after a while, and the deadpan silence of night can get a bit boring, a problem that is compounded by the sound of your bouncy, squeaking footsteps.

Between 1969 and 1972 six Apollo missions brought back 382 kilograms (842 pounds) of lunar rocks, core samples, pebbles, sand and dust from the lunar surface. The six space flights returned 2200 separate samples from six different exploration sites on the Moon. In addition, three automated Soviet spacecraft returned important samples totaling 300 grams (approximately 3/4 pound) from three other lunar sites. The lunar sample building at Johnson Space Center is the chief repository for the Apollo samples. The lunar sample laboratory is where pristine lunar samples are prepared for shipment to scientists and educators. Nearly 400 samples are distributed each year for research and teaching projects.

Astronaut safety is paramount in getting to the moon, according to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. But speed and cost are close seconds. But Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins prefers a beeline to Mars. Buzz Aldrin, too, is a longtime Mars backer. Back in 1994 on the 25th anniversary of his moon landing with Neil Armstrong, Aldrin questioned whether astronauts would be back on the moon by the 50th anniversary let alone on Mars, which was the short-lived goal at that time.

Tackling an engineering problem like getting astronauts to the moon, according to Bezos, requires consistency. It also requires government involvement, given the expense and scale of the project, he noted, as well as multiple companies, not just his own Blue Origin which is intent on building lunar landers.

The Chang'e-5 lander also carried three scientific payloads. A suite of cameras documented the landing site, a ground-penetrating radar mapped the subsurface, and a spectrometer studied the mineralogical composition of the landing site to calculate how much water is locked in the lunar soil. Scientists will be able to compare these readings with the samples they study back to Earth.

A year after release in Japan a Distaff Counterpart, Bokujo Monogatari: Harvest Moon For Girl, was released. The gameplay is largely the same but the backstory is different and you play as a female protagonist. While sailing you become shipwrecked and are rescued by a mysterious man. You end up in Mineral Town, and with nowhere to go you decide to take care of the local farm. For Girl wouldn't receive an official English translation until 2005 with the release of Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl, PlayStation Portable ports of the two PlayStation games.
