Saving to Insurance History through API

Hello,

I am working on an application that allows patients to enter their insurance information when scheduling appointments.

We have seen a specific issue related to the "save to insurance history" workflow in the UI. A patient has a new insurance for an upcoming visit, but has an old insurance for a past visit that has not been billed yet. The old insurance will be overwritten by the new without any historical data related to the old insurance. Thus they cannot bill the completed appointment to the correct insurance company. 

Is there a way for the API to save the old insurance to insurance history if it is adding a new insurance rather than overwriting the information?
