I am preparing to use this wonderful app to help students learn computer programming by diagramming their code and flow. I have been burned by other tools that limit the number of elements that can be in a single diagram. Rather than be burned again I want to make sure there is no limit on the complexity of any single diagram created with draw.io. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Thanks in advance,

Mr. Rob

Hi Rob,

There is no limit on complexity or numbers of diagrams. I would guess you've been enjoying Lucidchart's change of package for edu orgs...

Lucid are a venture capital backed company, they have have revenue targets to meet. We're a small, bootstrapped, all engineering team with a mission statement of "Build free, high quality diagramming software for everyone". To avoid the temptation to change packages, we take specific steps:

  1. You store your data, we never even see it
  2. We open source the app, https://github.com/jgraph/drawio, so you have the app and data if we did something you really don't like, and
  3. We provide free, open source desktop versions, https://download.draw.io/, since running the web app isn't trivial if you don't have reasonable IT knowledge.

Thanks,

David
