I am attempting to draw chemistry based structural formulas. I'd like to precisely rotate the line by 30 degrees, to better specify the bond angle of each paired elements.

It seems to the only do so, for single lines, is to drag each end of the line individually, and some sin/cos/tan calculations.

Edges and vertices are treated differently. For this case, I suggest you use the shape (vertex) called Horizontal Line. It is a vertex, so it doesn't have all the functionalities of edges, but for your case straight lines should be enough. When you drop it to the canvas, there should be a rotation icon above it, used for manual rotation. Alternatively, while the line shape is selected, in the Format Panel, select the Arrange tab. There you can enter a numerical value for rotation.

As a starting point maybe you could use one of our templates:

It mostly uses edges instead of lines as vertices, but it still might be of help to you.

Hi Treze,

You might have more success using a molecular drawing tool (e.g. http://molview.org/) - tools like this will also allow you to properly represent chemical structures, and you can download a png file (as well as .mol) of the drawn structure.

Best
