export to SVG and (re)opening with draw.io transforms SVG file back into draw.io format

When I export a draw.io diagram to Google Drive in SVG format and then reopen the document in draw.io (option at the top of the preview screen), it automatically (re)transforms the SVG document into a draw.io document. Thus essentially removing the 'original' SVG document.

Is there a setting that makes it possible to keep the original SVG document when opening the document in draw.io?

PS The Google Drive option 'Convert uploads' (Convert uploaded files to Google Docs editor format) does not seem to have any affect.

Holding down the Shift key while dropping the file into the editor now ignores the embedded diagram data.
