Highlighting the diverse sectors of the film and audiovisual industry in the 22nd edition of FEST, we are pleased to announce the participation of these distinguished professionals in our programme in Espinho.
Alexander Nanau is an Academy Award– and BAFTA-nominated director, as well as a European Film Award–winning producer, cinematographer, and editor from Romania. His most acclaimed film, Collective (2019), premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and screened at both TIFF and Sundance. In 2021, it made history as the first Romanian film ever nominated for an Academy Award, receiving nominations for both Best International Feature and Best Documentary Feature.
Mike and Françoise Valentine have worked together revealing the beauty of the underwater world to audiences on over 100 feature films. These include 5 Bond movies, The Bourne Supremacy, The Beach, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Star Wars Episode 1, and Trainspotting.
They will join our esteemed line-up at FEST 2026, alongside the already announced DOP Dan Laustsen (3 Oscars
Nominations for for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Nightmare Alley and The Shape of Water), the film director Danis Tanović (Palme d’Or and Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for No Man’s Land), the 7-time Oscar-nominated Production Designer and Set Decorator Sarah Greenwood & Katie Spencer (Barbie; Darkest Hour; Beauty and the Beast; Anna Karenina), sound and music supervisor John Warhurst (Academy Award winner for Bohemian Rhapsody), and composer Harry Escott, a BAFTA, BIFA and RTS award winner (Ali & Ava, Shifty, Shame).
We are truly honoured to have them at FEST, and they are just some of the names we will be announcing in the coming days.
We regret to inform you that, due to personal constraints, the previously announced Nina Hartstone and Luis Sequeira will not be attending this edition.
