Hello,
A couple friends and I are just getting back into Freelancer and decided to try out Crossfire with high expectations.
We would like to play this "co-op" with each other, but would rather host our own private server to zest about in, rather then use the provided RP only server.
However current attempts yield only the default Freelancer server which is 1.0, not the Crossfire 1.9/ Is it possible to for us to set up a server for our own use? or have I miss a Crossfire server download somewhere?
Or do you not allow private servers?

Hello Kharcov,
the Crossfire server implements the so-called "Open RP" system: whereas you are forbidden to avoid role play started upon you by another player, you are always free to decide whether to do RP on your own or not. This makes a big difference from other RP servers where you are forced to play your role all the time.

If they combine dropping new content/ adding a twitch drop when it comes out/ making free for a months at the same time / make all dlcs on discount/ make all servers 50 at least/ give x5 exp and harvest rate. all at the same time the game will pop off for a bit

On officials these days the building part of the game consists of a small cube base, anything bigger and youre in a constant risk of being reported by clans wanting your stuff and banned. It doesnt matter if youre not blocking anything. Its just a matter of time. It is so sad to watch the state this game has gone to.

Any chance you took any screenshots of the base - that you could post on here? This is obviously on an Official server where rules regarding server performance and issues with block-building (not, as you say, in your case). Just a questions: have you thought of shifting to private servers?

Base sprawl, especially horizontally, may not only block spawns and resources, but also make the server creak and groan. This seems to be the case for both vertical and horizontal sprawl. I know FC made a huge difference a few years back when they made bases render in only when closer to the base, but it has always been an issue.

Did the move to private servers years and many thousand game hours ago and not looked back. On private servers we occasionally see the servers kicking big-base players out with disconnection messages, but it is a known and, as private servers are usually actively admin-moderated and rules-governed, dealt with quickly and (hopefully) fairly.

So. We are here for you, all of us, gamers and @Community to help you with this issue.
Place your thoughts, your questions, anything you do and think you do right, to help you get answers that surely will help you not to ever be banned again and enjoy your gaming hours.
Above all, stay in the forum, read the rules and the conversations here, this will help you a lot to correct your gaming mistakes and enjoy your game without fear, it helped me all these years and I am pretty confident it will help you too.

To have your friends join your Refrag server, simply send the IP to them from your server dashboard and have them paste it into their console. Once they join, they can participate in virtually any mode available! They do not need a subscription to Refrag to join your server, but only the subscriber who launches the server can execute commands that change mode or map.

Crossfire works as it would as a solo player and can support up to 2 players. You can also enable PvP by typing .pvp in the in-game chat. This is great for building chemistry with friends and teammates!

No more waiting for empty spots on public Retake servers with your team. Simply type .retakes and have your friends join. .start will restart the game, and .ak, .m4, etc will modify your loadout to your liking. Retakes are best enjoyed when playing with at least 5 players.

Hosting your own private Deathmatch is possible with Refrag. simply type .deathmatch map-name-here to load the DM mod with the map of your choosing. You can even change between modes. Want headshot only with rifles? Type .rifles. Pistols only? .pistol. All commands can be found on the Refrag Wiki as always.

NADR allows you to show your saved grenades and grenade groups to your teammates. Simply launch NADR as you would if you were solo and have your friends join, and you can use general commands like .rethrow and .noflash to show your ideas to your friends. Note that .clear specifically does not work per player and will clear utility on the entire map, regardless of who threw it. A great way to use NADR as a team is to use the dry run functionality. Typing .dryrun will restart the round with everyone in spawn so you can practice getting into position for set tactics.

To summarize, virtually all modes are available for multiplayer, even ones like Waves that were not covered here. If you have any questions, chances are it will be answered on the Refrag Wiki, but if you require support or want to give feedback, join our Discord community!

To start off: I love this game, and I've always had. I've had my fair share of bad experiences, but for the majority of the time I've had a great time. This game series is my childhood and my passion, and I only wish the best for it.

In my time playing this game I've made some mistakes and bad choices, I've griefed people who (at the time) in my eyes deserved it, I never did it for fun. I now realize the fault of my actions and I deeply regret them and I'd like to sincerely apologize to anyone who I've hurt and intentionally griefed. I solemnly swear to never do it again, and I have changed my ways and an eye for an eye only makes the world blind. I wanted to make this thread not only to get this guilt off of my chest, but to bring justice in the community to the innocent people, and people who have changed their ways, but are still caught up in the banlist of this mod:

This should not be the way griefing is handled. Denying people of entry from public servers, Klei Official servers namely, is not justified in any form. It ruins the general game experience for others. I know that sentence sounds ironic, coming from a past griefer, but me and many others have changed their ways, and many others, that should not even be on the list are there anyway, for no good reason. Self admining with these mods should not be permitted on Klei Official public servers, and if you truely do not feel comfortable on Klei servers due to griefers, this has been addressed in the past, but, there are alternatives like private servers, friends only servers or dedicated servers hosted by groups with their own banlist put in place for their servers specifically and even server only mods that are meant to prevent griefing from happening.

There have been opinions and discussions of this type of mod in the past, and many agreed it would be a bad idea. Many others say it would be a good idea to have a universal banlist, however the execution of one would cause more problems than solve them, such as abuse of the mod and unfairness for others who truely have changed their ways. Additionally, it causes seemingly innocent people to get caught in the crossfire or people who have had a bad experience once and went off on another player, it happens, but this sort of punishment should not be permanent and for all servers. It also smears the reputation of someone for making a bad mistake once, that sort of thinking is close-minded and unforgiving. New players would also experience the same situation, burning something either accidently or intentionally once and then being put on the mod's banlist and humiliated.

I really have my hands tied in this situation, I've been nothing but reasonable. The image really isn't necessary, but it proves my point that bias is a factor in this situation and the mod can and will be used maliciously. As stated, I have been unbanned from the trusted list, but I still remain banned on the mod.

Policing the game should not be done by a hierarchy of players, but by the game creators, Klei entertainment. The game developers should take this problem into their own hands, not the community, because doing so would just cause more toxicity in the community and cause pointless arguing. Klei has even put into place some anti griefing measures already, they care about their games and the quality of them, the argument "Klei isn't doing anything to stop griefers" just isn't the case.

My final closing thoughts: I don't think this mod should stay up on the workshop, I have seen first hand reputations ruined, abuse of this mod and people being slandered because of this mod and it really has done more bad than good and it is damaging to the community. I truely am sorry for ever griefing, but I will make it clear I have never personally attacked anyone or slandered anyone over a bad experience on a game, I ask for forgiveness and fairness in this situation and I wish the best to everyone. Once again I do not condone harassment to anyone mentioned in this thread.
