As many Milletians have been waiting for, we have opened a space exclusively for the Eternity Project, which will deliver exciting news in the future. As I'm about to deliver news to Milletians in a new space rather than developer notes or website announcements, it feels a little different and I'm nervous all over again. Here, we will conveniently report issues, concerns, and development news that our Mabinogi team encountered while working on the Eternity project. We want to give you the feeling that we are continuing to develop with Milletians over a long period of time. Of Course, depending on the speed or progress of development, it may be difficult to provide news more frequently than expected. Nevertheless, we will strive to provide consistent news in the future so that it can be a space that makes waiting exciting. As this is the first story told to Milletians in this space, I would like to briefly explain the current status and direction of the Eternity project.
Classic but Classy
Personally, I feel a little awkward, but this sentence still encapsulates the direction of the Eternity project. This is a slogan that was actually presented internally from the beginning of the project so that it would not be forgotten during the development process and everyone on the Mabinogi team could remember it. I believe that the basis of Mabinogi that Milletians who come to Mabinogi expect is a fantasy life. And fantasy life refers to all activities that allow you to immerse yourself in the world of Erin, and ultimately rebuilding it will be the core process of the Eternity Project.
In the end, the goal is to continue the direction Mabinogi originally intended to go from the beginning, and to achieve this, Mabinogi must inherit its classic identity. However, we want to create a sophisticated look so that we can present an unrivaled charm compared to any other game.
Current status of the project
So, you may be wondering how much progress is being made. The Eternity project is currently in the "prototyping" process. However, since it is a redesigned and inherited version of a game currently in live service, it is very different from developing a new game. As a result, the purely physical volume planned is very large, and it is difficult to say exactly what progress is currently being made. However, the Eternity project is going through or must go through the following process.
In order to complete all of this within a reasonable time and present a good performance, I think we need to make bold choices, such as excluding infrequently used resources or content. We will explain the development process step by step and share our concerns.
With this direction in mind, our Mabinogi team is working with a lot of worries on the one hand and excitement and fun on the other. And in the future, we will use this space to tell various stories and be with Milletians through Eternity updates. So, I thought about various ways to show the process. To enable this process to be developed together, we ask questions about what issues each person in charge is actually experiencing and what concerns they are having. I thought it would be better to tell a more direct story about the development. However, not all people in charge, including me, have talent for writing, so they may be poor at writing. I'm a little worried that it may not always be interesting.
I wanted to go through this process together because I don't think there's much difference between us and Milletians. We expect to be able to tell a wide range of stories by trying more diverse things in the future. We ask for your support. Mabinogi Eternity is a fantasy life we create together.
Released in 2017, Lawbreakers was the first game from the now-defunct Boss Key Productions, a studio founded by Cliff Bleszinski following his departure from Epic Games. It was a high-speed, high-skill FPS that slotted neatly into the Unreal Tournament lineage but, despite being really rather good, lasted barely a year before going offline forever.
Or so it seemed. Bleszinski is an outspoken sort and, ever since Boss Key went down, has at various points teased the possibility of a Lawbreakers comeback: even saying last year that his "LA lawyer" was on the case. Sadly even LA lawyers find it difficult to get around the fact that Nexon owns the rights to the game, and there's been no official revival of the title.
But unofficially, a group of devoted fans have been working to bring the game back. The effort began in February 2021 (on Discord, at least), and was kept underground by project leader Red, lest Nexon take an interest, before breaking cover this past week for a public playtest. Set expectations appropriately: The goal is to bring back Lawbreakers as it was, but this is not a remaster and the game won't be changed or added-to in any way (Red says there's a possibility of some balancing tweaks, but they'll cross that bridge once the thing's up-and-running).
"Somehow LawBreakers is coming back," wrote an excited Bleszinski, before sharing a link to his wife streaming the game and joining the Discord. He then went on to make possibly the worst game-related joke I've ever seen: "Funny how Lawbreakers is rising from the ashes. Kinda like...a Fenix."
Quite. Back on planet Earth the playtest (now closed) seemed to go well and prove that the fan project's servers are up to the task ("it's held up beautifully"). While enthused about the chance to "battle in Zero G like in the good old days" Red does emphasise that some stuff is "either broken or does not work as intended", before encouraging their fellow Lawbreakers to "just have fun with other people living the hype!"
The project does not yet have a public release date, though does have a website. Red emphasises they're "a small team and this is insanely complex to properly do" and, while there are plans for another playtest soon, they're still looking for additional bodies on the development side to "help us make this the best possible preservation of LawBreakers."

Nexon Co., Ltd. (formerly Korean: 주식회사 넥슨) is a South Korean video game developer and publisher.[7] It develops and publishes titles including MapleStory, Dungeon & Fighter, Sudden Attack, and KartRider.[7] Headquartered in Japan, the company has offices in South Korea, the United States, Taiwan and Thailand.[8]
Nexon was founded in Seoul, South Korea, in 1994 by Kim Jung-ju. In 2005, the company moved its headquarters to Tokyo, Japan. However, its largest shareholder is an investment and holding company NXC, headquartered in Jeju Island, South Korea.[9]
In 2003, game development company Wizet developed MapleStory in Korea, which later became one of its most successful titles and has been serviced for more than two decades.[13][14] The game was localized for Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, North America, Europe, Brazil, and Vietnam.[15] Nexon is also the developer of Dungeon & Fighter, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Neople.[16][17] Dungeon & Fighter is one of the most popular free-to-play online PC games in China.[17][18]
Nexon went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on December 14, 2011, in an initial public offering, the largest in Japan for 2011 and the second largest by a technological company for 2011 worldwide.[19] On March 9, 2016, Nexon acquired Big Huge Games, a mobile game developer in Maryland.[20] In October 2018, a labor union was established at Nexon.[21]
In April 2013, the programmer "DrUnKeN ChEeTaH" was sued by Nexon America for operating GameAnarchy, a popular subscription based cheat provider for Combat Arms. Nexon was awarded $1.4M in damages.[22]
On January 3, 2019, The Korea Economic Daily reported Nexon founder Kim Jung-ju and associates had put their 98.64 percent stake up for sale.[23] However, on July 8, 2019, Reuters reported the plan was abandoned.[24] On November 25, 2019, The Lego Group announced the acquisition of Bricklink, the world's largest Lego fan community from Nexon's parent company NXC,[25] for an unknown price, which is expected to finish before the end of 2019.[26]
